Help needed, I think wilheim when he is around is the one to help me. I have a book that is trying to cancel 2 American Idol wagers I made on the 12th, inciting "bad line" for the reason.

this is ridiculous to begin with lines were not bad and they notified me of the cancellation 10 minutes ago, 5 days after I made my wagers. I am e-mailing you.

here is what I bet on may 12.

exactas

Taylor Hicks first, Elliot 2nd +500

and

Taylor first Katharine second +400

this was 2 days after Chris was eliminated. To me I dont see anything wrong with these lines. I am not math inclined and I dont bet horses so I dont know how exacta odds are figured. these look like good bets to me, thats why I bet them. But I really dont see anything remotely resembling "bad lines " here considering I have to get the exact order on 2 contestants.

remember, this bet was placed 5 days ago. Since then Taylors odds to win have gotten much improved and my bets are looking much better. how in the world can this place cancell them now, 5 days after I bet them? On May 12, when I bet these 2 days after Chris got booted, there were no odds for Chris anymore ( Which would have indicated stale lines they didnt mean to offer). They only had lines for Kat, Taylor and Elliot. So these appeared updated and OK to wager on to me.

I found out these were being cancelled 5 minutes before elliot got eliminated when I tried to log in to my account and I was locked out and contacted their customer support. they said while they did remove the Chris odds from the board on the 12th they had never updated the odds on the other contestants for these exacta bets. this is 2 DAYS after chris was eliminated. How the hell was I supposed to know that, if its true even, I have no way of knowing. So they feel justified in cancelling my bets 5 days later ( after the show Tuesday and Taylor is looking much stronger as the "to win" pick) because they are saying while they did remove Chris from all the betting odds, they never updated odds on the others.

to me Taylor, Elliot at 5-1 or Taylor, Kat at 4-1 on May 12 doesnt seem like a bad line that I should have known was bad ( especially when Chris odds were not on their board, Chris odds up would have been a red flag to me not to bet). So I completelly dispute that this was a "bad line" to begin with. And its 5 days later they want to cancel and both my bets got a lot better chances wise in those 5 days.

this reminds me like the BCN situation, but the book looks even worse. How can they be serious? I feel 100% right. American Idol bets are not available in many places so its even tougher than a baseball futures line to know what is a good line or not. I 100% believe these were not "bad lines".

And cancelling them Wednesday night after the show Tuesday where Taylor shined the most and solidified his chances to win is absolutely outrageous. Especailly since I entered the wagers 5 days ago.

To me, its like they are trying to cancel a college football line in the MAC conference I got at +5 when everyone else was at +4 after 3 quarters of the game when their side isnt lookin to good.

I think they are crazy for even trying this, personally. And I fear for people who don't know they dont have to get railroaded by the bizarre whims of some sportsbook employee and instead come here for help. If I didnt know about the RX, I would have no recourse.

other opinions welcome.

Whats up Mr. Smith!!!!

The Bad Line excuse should be against the law IMO. No way they'
should have the right to cancel a wager that already was wagered.

Looks solid to me Smith, I only skimmed your explanation, but nothing looks even close to bad, IMO... looks quite clean to me.

even posted my bets in the long ppeter "lock of infinity" American Idol thread. Look at post #2146. bets were in on May 12.

I was shaking I was so upset after listening to their customer service guy tell me problems come up there and its in their rules they can cancel any wager at any time. He completely ignored anything I said to him. they were cancelling my bets and that is that is what I was told.

Very tough to cancel this baby, I can supply data to support your case, odds all over the place, you have a great case, friend.

Even better is one of your bets must lose, top bet was like +500, assuming equal action on both, it's like +250 on Taylor, very hard to call bad line. This ain't a football game.

There's no way they should be able to cancel any bets after the Tuesday night show. Very unfair.

I dont even see the case for calling these "bad lines" myself. and to do it 5 days later when everyone and their sister now belives Taylor is going to win? are they nuts?

my bets went in 2 days after Chris got booted and they had removed Chris completely off the page as a betting option. I certainly assumed the lines were considered updated at that point and I dont see how these lines they offered look completely out of whack for the final 3 as of May 12.

Should the bets be cancelled? Probably not. Does Mr. Smith really know that it was a somewhat ridiculous line? Ofcousre. Tough situation here. There is no doubt they are bad lines but the book needs to take a certain degree of responsiblity and not handling it quickly is certainly not doing that. No excuse to let it drag on that long before cancelling.

I actually bet a lot more on Taylor first, Elliot second. though i like Kat, I thought she would probably get eliminated this week. So I am already down almost double my remaining bet, Taylor first, Kat second. If kat wins next week ( dont be shocked, the girl CAN SING) I would lose both my bets.

Personally, at this point, I think considering what they want to do, I should get the right to cancell both my bets next Wednesday night if Kat wins.

And by the way, by me saying Mr. Smith knows these are ridiculous lines is in no way saying that doesn't mean they are fair game, especially with Daughtry off the lines. I would have played them also, as there is no way of knowing that they didn't want the line to be that. Was it a bad line, yes, but on wagers such as these, it takes a sharp person to identify that, which Mr. Smith is fairly intelligent. He did nothing wrong by playing them, that is for sure. The time lag before the cancellation is the key here.

on may 12, its may 18 now, you wouldnt be calling this a ridiculous line. A good bet for me, yes, but thats all. I dont believe ridiculous was a word you would have used on may 12. things are much improved for my bets now

Not trying to be hard on you, as I don't think they should be cancelled due to delay in them getting cancelled, but if I use the word ridiculous, the word ridiculous is what i mean. I think you know where I am coming from. Keep in mind, I did say that I would have hit it in your spot also, had I caught it. Doesn't make the line less ridiculous though. Good luck, however it turns out. Definately a tough deal.
