Lets say that Barbaro wins this race. It could be a close race or he could take it from the start and lead the entire way, does not matter.

What will his odds be then for winning the Belmont stakes? I know it varies with the number of horses involved, but any rough guesses.

This is all hypothetical.

Thanks in advance.

If he wins, my guess is he will be 3/5 or 4/5 if there are at least 8 horses running in the Belmont. IF there are only 6 horses, he may be 1/5. You gotta remember that a ton of people buy $2 win tickets on the TC hopeful as a momento or to try and sell if he wins.

well if that is the case Pinni has him at +200 now to win the TC. If this is the case there might be a little money in taking that then also taking him not to win this week at Pinni, which pays + something and then taking him not to win at Belmont which you suggest he might have a chance of being favored at 1-5. I think there is much to much risk involved, but perhaps if you know about the making of these lines you may be able to take advantage of it. anyways thanks for the response.

Barbaro has only two horses returning from the Kentucky Derby to challenge him in the Preakness. He is likely to go off below even money. If he should win, believe there may be only 5 or 6 horses in the Belmont to challenge him and his odds will be extremely short as many will buy a ticket just to hope to hold a Triple Crown winning ticket with no plan to cash it. The last TC winner was Affirmed in 1978. I took +249 at Pinnacle a couple of days after the Derby as I believe his toughest obstacle will be the Preakness and not the Belmont. Still think +200 isn't too bad if you like him.
