45 years old and went to my first ever Chiropractor today. Man I must say I feel much better already. I will try it once a week and see how I progress. Bad back and neck problems most of my life. We shall see. Anyone else go to one?

They're a bunch of witch doctors. You're good for two days and go back to what you were. God forbid you get a bad adjustment.......you can't move for two days!

I crushed three vertabraes when I was younger. Best thing to do is get an epidural shot in your back. You won't feel anything again.

Brother is a Chiropractor in Portland, Oregon. Brother was a 4.0 student in college. He told me the biggest mistake patients make is to let doctors take them to the knife before trying to solve their ailments without surgery.

Its amazing how people will listen more to a Loud Joker than a Quiet Expert. What makes them believe an Orthopedic surgeon knows less than the Chiropracter down the road?, well, its like on here, people will listen to a Tout quicker than anyone, Why? because people fall for Bullshit all the time. :drink:

Chiropractic care seems to help short term but didn't work for me beyond the first 24 hours. 5 mins and a $60 bill for doing nothing seems like a scam to me - tried several sessions and then told him that i thought it was a scam - he didn't defend himself.

QUOTE: B. J. Palmer, son of the founder of chiropractic and the most successful promoter of the cult once quipped, when asked the principle functions of the spine: "To support the head, to support the ribs and to support the chiropractor." That might be funny -- if it weren't so profoundly sad that countless Americans are endangering their health and wasting hundreds of millions of their scarce dollars. :drink:

I've been to several chiropractors through the years. Some are very good, some are very bad. You want one who does everything by touch. I had one who did a full set of x-rays and all kinds of tests. He had me in there 3 times a week. Would go around from room to room like a regular doctor. Spend 5 minutes with me. Did no good. Another chiro. would spend a half hour with me giving me various treatments. Was great. My father was in great pain, in the hospital and traction for two weeks. Did no good. Went ot a good chiro and after a couple of weeks, was a new man. I will not go to a chiro. who went to the Palmer school.

The most dangerous thing that anyone can do is subject themselves to the knife without getting a second opinion. Any Chiroproctor that works on you without first taking some exrays is not worth his salt. However the good Chiroproctors out there can solve a lot of problems without subjecting yourself to expensive surgery that sometimes only makes thing worse. My brother graduated from Life University in Marietta, Georgia which is one of the top Chiropractic colleges in the USA Check out where the Chiropractor got his degree as some of them got their degree online or at lessor colleges. It's your body.... take some time to take care of it !

I swear by Chiro. Immediate relief. It's kind of like tuning a piano though, at first you have to go three times a week to train your back at accept the adjustments, then taper down to once or twice a week as the adjustments hold longer, finally down to once a month. As my Chiro says "You didn't screw up your back in 3 sessions, don't expect it to be fixed in three either." Mine is also a physical therapist and has helped me with my shoulder as well. I'd guess he does 1/2 his work 'pro bono' for the poor here in Costa Rica to boot.

btw, I've seen with my own eyes a girl at my Chiro's office who was in a wheelchair and ready for surgery who can now walk in close to normally in less than a year. Surgery is a last resort.

it's funny I just had a buddy call me yesterday asking me the same question. I have had some back problems and a chiropractor has been able to help me right away with them 99% of the time.

I did end up herneating a disc in my back and he couldn't do anyhting about that. But overall I give a big thumbs up:thumbsup2: to them. What baffles me is I know alot of people who are completley against them and suffer unneeded discomfort but just won't go.

Good luck I wouldn't wish bad back pain on my worst enemy.

Usually a Quick Fix, usually doesnt last long either. X-Rays a 100% MUST before anything. Know some that have gotten relief and some that didnt, just depends on how bad the injury is in the first place. Once neck or back is injured, its Never the same again, even with surgery which is a 50-50 thing nowdays. BOL TO ALL with these problems, thank god i dont have any of these.

Before going to a chiropractor, I read up a lot about it! What it said makes sense. If something is out of alignment, a doctor can only give you shots for it, but not make it better. A chiropractor solves the problem by adjusting where the problem is without having to just give cortisone shots to make it feel better!

The first and last time I went to see a chiropractor I walk in and the "doc" this old fella with Ravi Shankar posters on the wall and incence burning. He laid me down on the table, looked at my feet, and said I was out of imbalance because my right foot was longer than my left foot. Before I could adjustment myself so my left foot was in balance with my right, the guy has me in an MMA hold and I'm tapping out. Then he moves behind my head jerked my neck around and I hear this pop and I'm thinking bloods gonna start pouring out of my mouth. I walked out of that guys office in more pain than before I got there.

I've heard the "science" has advanced since those days, but I ain't taking any chances.

Only time to go to a chiropractor is when you are going to litigate against someone, after a car wreck or something where you can hold someone else responsible. You want as much medical as you can get to show how much you are suffering and trust me these guys will find it if it keeps you coming through the doors. Other than that I wouldn't think of going back.
