Pro Athlete/Pro Gambler, compare the two...

Both have to be mentally and physically fit to succeed long term. How else can you compare the two.

How about women? Are women impressed if you throw the line "I bet sports for a living" as they are if you say...."I am starting line backer for the Cincinnati Bengals?"

Professional Athlete: "Hi, I'm Shandon Anderson. I make 60 million dollars for barely playing during the season. I practice 2 hours in the day as a dummy for coach's plays and then I go to the clubs to pick up chicks with ease."

Professional Gambler: "Hi, my name is Frank. I have no tan, am overweight, and am currently single. I have to stay on the computer the whole night to find the best lines for all the sports. If possible, I stay up late at night just to find some scalps and middles. I can easily find a woman but she eventually gets sick of watching the NBA Full Court Package instead of drinking martinis and leeching off my income."

Hmm, I'll go with Shandon Anderson's path.

I beg to differ. I have been getting back into shape. Since I have been doing this for a living my physical life has taken a toll. It took me 3 years to take notice, but I finally have. I am back in the gym 5 days a week, hitting the weights like i did back when i played D-1 foots.

If you ask me, being a pro gambler is exciting, if not more exciting than pro athlete's. Making a big hit on a RB or a sack is a great feeling, but taking money from those that prey on the weak is a far better feeling.

Pro gambling is more taboo, and has a mystery to it in a sense. If you take care of yourself, it is a lot easier on the body also, and you can pick your own hours.

I have a few buddies that make more than the league min. in most pro sports, gambling for a living.

As for attracting women, like i said above, there is a natural curosity to gambling, and mystery to those who can turn a profit year in and year out.

Good points BB if we (as gamblers) are doing the comparing. I do get a rush out of this I didn't quite get out of sports all the time and this lets me keep "competing" even as I get older. If the rest of the population is comparing between the two though I don't think it's any contest, they would much prefer Tom Brady over us.

Check it out. When I was dating this girl 3-4 dates in ...I told her to go with me to the casino as I had to cash in my winning tickets. Wasnt tryin to impress her but if I did fine by me. So I come back from the betting window with my winnings and stake money etc...she took one look at the cash and said " lets go eat" and she got me to take her to a steak house....and then after that wanted to go and spend some more of my "lottery winnings", in her mind! She didnt get IT at all.....That money was my "stake"money not "steak" money .I tried to explain that was like a paycheck and I need that money for Future wagers and ups and downs, but all she saw was someone winning the LOTTO etc. Never tell a woman how much you bet unless they really get it. I am not a pro however I still try to think like its a business with biz expenses and such.

Pro athelete... works very hard and deserves a good salary but makes the same even if he loses every single game (team sports)

Pro gambler... puts his capital on line everyday and is at the mercy of the pro athelete.

One irritating moment from a few years ago. GB @ TB

Farve was playing terrible near the end of the game, throws one more interception. (like he couldn't wait to get over to the opposing team and laugh and joke with Waren Sapp and the TB coaching staff) And thats what he did. The big smile on his face you would have thought he won.

I guess somethings are hard to forget.

good topic, great posts.......i think that as far as comparing the two the biggest difference is the stress level that the pro gambler faces each day, it can be extremely stressful especially if you watch the games you wager on.....i am not a professional gambler, i bet recreationally but i would think that its even more stressful if your wagers are your only income, there really isn't too many jobs in the world that you can put in a full days work (like hours of researching stats, trends, line searching etc.) and have less money than when you started the day.......as far as women go, most love money, and money spends the same whether its from a wager or a pro salary.

Heres an angle to look at....Pro athletes who turn into touts.They do Not get nearly the credibility as when they played. However money is money and if you live a cool lifestyle and make chicks happen , create your own hip lifestyle ...it dont matter if you bet or if you play ball....Stay in the "luxury High-Rollers suite" as a pro gambler and your confidence will go through the roof and women sense that and the stack of fiftys in your pocket. Buy some new threads and create a buzz about you with the local strippers and you could score them....although they are not my idea of a cool chick to date...their personalitys are too ME ME ME and I dont like their vibe even at the club.....ESPECIALLY the pushy ones. I have to agree. The above examples are great. Do you think that Wayne Root, Jim Fiest, and some of the other touts get hot women WITHOUT paying for it. These pro athletes have hot women all over the place...get a BJ and drop em and not think a second more about them.

These touts would have to PAY for it. No doubt that the athletes are the big winners when it comes to women.

I have dated good looking woman my entire life.....mainly because I gamble for a living.

Certainly did not occur because of my looks and/or because of being a nice guy.

Women love the excitement.

There are three types of posters that never get old. Number 1 is internet tough guys. Number 2 is internet millionares from poker/gambling. Number 3 is internet ladies men/cocksmen.
