Fight announced as a draw in the ring and later declared a split decision after fighters left. What is the official rule from Las Vegas in this case?

BOXING- THE MARCO ANTONIO BARRERA AND ROCKY JUAREZ FIGHT INITIALLY ENDED IN A 12 ROUND DRAW.
AFTER REVIEW OF THE SCORECARDS, THEY NOTICED A SCORING ERROR AND DECLARED BARRERA
THE WINNER BY SPLIT DECISION.

I believe that is official.

I have just returned home from visiting the Palms Sportsbook here in Vegas. I talked to the Sportsbook Manager and He said they have scored the fight a draw and have refunded all wagers. I asked him if He knew how other Vegas Sportsbooks had scored the fight and He told me He has talked to most of the books and that they were all scoring the fight as a draw and all wagers were being refunded. I am not sure if this is true as I am just reporting what the Sportsbook Manager at the Palms has told me.

Does Vegas use 3-way lines ? Betting the loser and getting a refund would be cool, but not cool if you bet the winner.

Tough sport to bet.

We had a two-way line on the fight. I will be going in to work in an hour and we will have a meeting on this to figure out what wagers we will honor.
My opinion right now is that I will adhere strictly to the wording in our rules. If it is vague at all, then we will have to figure out what is best.

I watched it last night and went to sleep figuring it was a draw. When did they change the decision?

I read it was changed about 15-20 minutes after the fight, when they were adding the score cards and somehow found that one card was mis-added.

The Sportsbook Manager at the Palms showed me a copy of the actual scorecards turned in and on two of the cards the results of the last round appeared to be altered or scratched out and changed to make the draw into a decision. His response was " That's boxing "

pinnacle will not refund my wager on juarez....no where in their rules does it state they will honor a decision after the original decision was made...i emailed them asking where in their rules it states this and the response i got was "A mistake in the addition of the scorecards resulted in Saturday's Marco Antonio Barrera-Rocky Juarez being announced to the Staples Center crowd as a draw. However, the scorecards were later retabulated and it was discovered that the actual scores were 115-114, 115-113 Barrera, 115-114 Juarez, so Barrera actually wins a majority decision"...it's a frigin copy and paste job...LAME!!!!

Doug, Any book that uses a 3-way line for the purpose of keeping the money in case of a draw are crooks. Las Vegas has win-loss-draw betting on big money fights and refunds the money to bettors who bet on either fighter on a draw.

I disagree. It's Ok if they don't have an excessive hold on it. It can be done like soccer with a 3-way line, and both sides lose, but draw wins. Draw is often like +300 in soccer, but a boxing draw is much higher.

They don't keep all the money, have to pay draw bettors. I don't bet much boxing, but have seen lines where there are 3 options, one winner. I'm sure Winkyduck agrees with your view. I judge by hold % if the line is fair.

At least I think Draw is the only winner on those, not really a boxing guy.

SIA looks like they book it that way with a bunch of fights at draw 21.00 ( +2000), I do believe those 3 ways only pay one way.

As I have mentioned earlier, It looks to me that according to what the sportsbook Manager at the Palms said..... All wagers are simply being refunded their money which I presume includes those that had wagered on a Draw ! Tough call no matter what they do however. One must remember that some bettors probably already had their $$ refunded and were halfway home when the fight winner was changed ! It will be interesting to see what Green Doberman has to say as to what the Imperial Palace did. As I understood it... luckily for Las Vegas Books.... the fiight wasn't heavily bet.

No tickets thrown away in Vegas, but possible losers paid ! I guess no 3-ways there.

I've heard conflicting reports, some may have specific rules for it, but they should be OK with ability to regrade and not lose.
