You can't, you have to make the playlists in I-tunes then d&d them into your Ipod icon when it is attached to your computer...Dante said:

I only use this feature to know what songs I want to delete off the Ipod.

It's worth $25 just to try it out...Amazing that as smart as Apple can be they can't spend the extra $10,000 to significantly upgrade their software.
