My personal TOP THREE contenders......

1. PAPELBON(red sox)- 15 for 15 in save oppurtunities and a microscopic ERA of 0.40. He is the main reason the Bosox lead the AL EAST.

2. CONTRERAS(white sox)- 5-0 and sporting a 1.90 ERA........with the lineup around him, don't expect him to lose many games and will challenge for a 20 win season barring injury or a total collapse.

3. KAZMIR(drays)- 7 wins with a last place team and if that were not enough, is currently 2nd in the league with 67 srikeouts, trailing only the Twins Santana. At only 22 years of age, there may not be a pitcher in the big leagues with a more promising career ahead. Been absolutely dominant and filthy nasty in his last five outings. If this is any indication of things to come, he may very well remain a TOP THREE contender for the AL Cy Young award throughout the entire season.

No way in hell someone who has participated in only 5% of his teams innings is the Main reason the Bosox lead the AL east.

Kevin Youkilis playing Gold Glove caliber first base and being the AL's BEST LEADOFF MAN is much more of a factor.

<table class="tablehead" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tbody><tr class="stathead" style="background: rgb(0, 49, 75) none repeat scroll 0% 50%; -moz-background-clip: -moz-initial; -moz-background-origin: -moz-initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: -moz-initial;"><td colspan="13">Season Stats</td></tr><tr class="colhead" align="right"><td align="left">SPLIT</td><td width="7%">G</td><td width="7%">AB</td><td width="7%">R</td><td width="7%">H</td><td width="7%">2B</td><td width="7%">3B</td><td width="7%">HR</td><td width="7%">RBI</td><td width="7%">SB</td><td width="7%">BA</td><td width="7%">OBP</td><td width="7%">SLG</td></tr><tr class="oddrow" align="right"><td class="" align="left">Season</td><td class="">38</td><td class="">147</td><td class="">25</td><td class="">46</td><td class="">11</td><td class="">1</td><td class="">4</td><td class="">21</td><td class="">1</td><td class="">.313</td><td class="">.425</td><td class="">.483</td></tr></tbody></table>

Also, Keith Foulke appears to now be fully healthy and is doing a very comprable job to Papelbon

<table class="tablehead" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tbody><tr class="colhead" align="right"><td align="left">SPLIT</td><td width="6%">G</td><td width="6%">IP</td><td width="6%">H</td><td width="6%">R</td><td width="6%">HR</td><td width="6%">BB</td><td width="6%">SO</td><td width="6%">W</td><td width="6%">L</td><td width="6%">Sv</td><td width="6%">P/GS</td><td width="6%">WHIP</td><td width="6%">BAA</td><td width="6%">ERA</td></tr><tr class="oddrow" align="right"><td class="" align="left">Season</td><td class="">20</td><td class="">23.1</td><td class="">19</td><td class="">9</td><td class="">2</td><td class="">3</td><td class="">19</td><td class="">2</td><td class="">1</td><td class="">0</td><td class="">0.0</td><td class="">0.94</td><td class="">.226</td><td class="">3.47
</td></tr></tbody></table>

Kazmir would be my pick at this point though. 7 wins on the Drays!

ill take:

1. Roy Halladay: 1 game to pitch in the AL.. he is pitching for me.. good numbers and will stay good.

2. Kenny Rogers: sentimental choice, for the Old Gambler...

3. Freddy Garcia: 8-1 start and with a dynamite team.. could win in the 20's for a first place team.

Papellbon still a contender for the CY YOUNG AWARD with a 2-1 record, a league leading 27 saves, and an ERA of 0.54!

When are people going to start taking Francisco Liriano serious for awards!?

He's looking like Vida Blue in 1971 with thse numbers!

W-L ERA K Walks WHIP
12-2 1.93 125 29 0.97

Maybe because he didn't start pitching til May.

I hope Verlander takes the mound monday in tampa ...

Cause my butt will be firmly planted 5 rows right behind the tigers dugout...

I actually think Rogers will be pitching.. Which sucks ...
