He smoked Matty Mo...

Too bad Marquis is giving it all back in the bottom half...

What a joke Marquis is...so inconsistent.

Viking...

I agree...

Jocketty is going to get another impact bat...no doubt about it...

Either it will be Mulder or Marquis...but one of those free agents-to-be will go for that bat...

I would prefer Marquis be traded...but either way...

Anthony Reyes will then enter the rotation.

Traded???

For what???

Maybe Isiah Thomas would take him...I don't know any sane baseball GM that would give anything for him.

Marquis would command a decent bat in return...

The Texas Rangers would be very interested in another arm...So would the Yankees...how about the Mets? They need a pitcher as well...If they would trad Nady to the Birds for Marquis that would be a good deal...or Cliff Floyd...either guy would look good with the Birds.

Jocketty should trade him to either New York team...and send him home.

Marquis has trade value.

He had one good season. He is a mess right now. He can't throw strikes. He has a hard time keeping the ball in the park.

I was being sarcastic about him having no value...anyone that can eat up innings has value these days.

Both of these pitchers tonight are trash. This coming from a Giants fan that really believed Matty Mo was the missing piece to our rotation.

But Marquis is terrible. Don't let being a fan blind you of the facts:

Marquis has tons of trade value. Front line starting pitcher on a majority of teams in MLB.

Guy has 64 starts, 408.1 innings over last 2 seasons with a 3.92 ERA.

free agent at the end of the year too so teams are not going to break the bank for the guy. Besides it would send a red flag if a team in contention wants to trade a starting pitcher since it rarely happens.

team in contention that has about 6 or 7 starting pitchers right now all capable of winning 15 games

Clip Joint...

If you believed Morris was the missing piece...I am amazed...

He throws 88 mph at his best...gives up HR after HR, and his snapper is no longer a biting curve...more of a roller.

He usually is strong in the first half of the season...which at this point means utter doom for the Giants.

The Giants will be lucky if Morris' ERA ends up being lower than the 5.5 million they are paying him this season...right now he is at 5.70. Almost a million per run that he surrenders.

Morris is bad...no doubt about that.

I was talking more along the lines of a veteran that could eat up innings and tutor the likes of Lowry, Cain, and the young bullpen.

His "stuff" has been gone for quite some time.

Marquis is a similar pitcher in this sense:

His offensive support and the great Cardinal bullpen save the looks of his stats. He is even worse than his below average stats indicate.

Morris no longer has that luxury.

There are a lot of pitchers that would love to have the run support and bullpen he has the luxury of pitching with.

Marquis was 13-14 on a team that won 61.7% of their games last season. :icon_conf

Great baseball knowledge...:missingte

I don't know many people that would put Marquis in front of Jason Schmidt, Noah Lowry, or even Matt Cain for that matter. He would be the #4 last season and this season. :toast:

No need to discuss the topic anymore with that kind of opinion.

The Cubs would love to have Marquis right now.

Rich Hill? Angel Guzman? Their top two prospects are complete Duds...

There are many many teams that would love Marquis...

He is much better than Kameron Loe, or John Koronka...Buck Showalter would love him.

BTW...he has settled in somehow and now retired 8 str8 batters.
