I have been trying to gather research on underdogs over the first 5 innings of
games. I have a theory that you may actually be better off betting heavy underdogs for the 1st 5 innings as opposed to the full game for 2 reasons:
1) In a game of skill the longer the constest ( be it poker, baseball etc>) the more likely that the better team will win.
2)Starting pitching and crappy bullpens.
Do to the uniquness that is the starting pitcher (there is nothing similar to it in any other sport) if you have a bad team with a bad bullpen nd good starting pitcher, the crappy team is more likely to be ahead after 5 then 9.

The game lines and 5 inning lines are not very different from eachother.

I belive the above statements to be true, but would like to here other thoughts on the matter.
Additionally if anybody knows where I can find stats of teams first 5 inning records ( I was manually doing this for the Royals today, going thru boxscores) I would appreciate it.
