Traded Jorge Julio to get him, help bolster a depleted staff. What a steal. Jorge Julio straight up?!? The D'Backs are in 1st place right now, and aren't exactly the deepest team when it comes to starting pitching(although their bullpen depth is even worse)...still, JORGE JULIO?!? That means that they essentially traded Javier Vasquez and El Duque for Julio, if I'm not mistaken. WTF?!?

I'll always respect El Duque for the way he came into the game last year against boston in the playoffs with the bases loaded and no one out and didnt allow a single run. That put the nail in the coffen for the Red Sox season.

Very few remember that in the grand scheme of the White Sox post season! I said it then, I said it a few months ago, that inning changed everything in that series....If Boston goes on to win that game, who knows!

I also feel El Duque is the very best at getting out of no out bases loaded jams in general, he's always been so crafty in those spots.

I was going to mention that but you did it for me. He is very underrated and as a yankee fan I would love to see him back on the yankees. If the Mets do make the playoffs, he can really help this team. I don't understand with the Diamondbacks would do this? They were in 1st place? Are they in need of relief pitching that badly? From what I know El Duque wasn't making that much money.

He got hurt. He will be back in the rotation very soon. Now if someone asks you about the Benson trade you will know what your talking about before you talk about it.

Well I guess I'm in the minority on this one. I don't really hate the deal but I don't think it is likely to pay off. Hernandez hasn't been any good as a starter for about a calendar year now. But then Julio is no great shakes, and El Duque is fun to watch. So just on entertainment value alone it's a plus for NY. I still think Heilman was the better fit and will end up filling this spot. I guess I'm ambivalent on this deal, crappy starter for crappy reliever, but I can see why Met fans would be hyped about it.

Mets still trying to correct the blunder that sent Kazmir to the DRays. Can you imagine how many games that kid would win with an offense behind him?

Horrible deal, absolutely horrible. At least for the Mets it was.

Yup, every time Kazmir pitches it looks worse and worse. Still, gotta accentuate the positive--as hard as that is for a Mets fan. Things are lookin' up this year!

The rumor was, the Mets got rid of Kazmir because his arm was eventually going to go out on him the way he pitched, so they got someone with a solid arm like Victor Zambrano. :103631605
