Depends on who it is, where he plays, past performances and some intangables. Can not answer with out a name of a player and not knowing who would be in ahead of him.

Hmm... average player in MLB gets out around 70% of the time...that would make him a .300 hitter..

Assume that he plays RF, and his numbers are

<table border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="1" width="100%"><tbody><tr class="bg0" align="left"><td class="bg0" colspan="30">BATTING STATS</td></tr> <tr class="bg1" align="center"><td>Year</td><td>Team</td><td>G</td><td>AB</td><td>R</td><td>H</td><td>HR</td><td>RBI</td><td>BB</td><td>SO</td><td>SB</td><td>CS</td><td>OBP</td><td>SLG</td><td>AVG</td></tr><tr class="bg2" align="right" height="17" valign="middle"><td align="left">2006</td><td align="left">ATL</td><td align="left">46</td><td align="left">197</td><td align="left">24</td><td align="left">50</td><td align="left">10</td><td align="left">36</td><td align="left">2</td><td align="left">34</td><td align="left">0</td><td align="left">5</td><td align="left"> .261</td><td align="left"> .448</td><td align="left"> .254</td></tr></tbody></table>

Also assume he has played for 2 years, and that in the previous year his bb/k ratio was 1-5, and that the 2005 season was only 247 ab's.

WRONG, the player would have a 300 OBP, not .300 hitter necessarily.

Id play Frenchy everynite...he brings a special dynamic to that team, and he's done good things this year, and bad things, there's other players out there that are worse and some are on the Braves......

Hey Budsworth, what do you think of Jeff Francouer? Some people think he isn't that good because of his low OBP and terrible batting eye, but I'm guessing you might disagree. Thoughts? Don't hold back now, tell us how you really feel. In fact, if you could keep us all posted on how he's doing and give us your thoughts on the matter in some sort of daily post that would be great. Or even better, update us at-bat by at-bat, it makes for some really great message board material! Thanks.

Now I am aware of who you mean so the answer to your question is YES I would LEAVE HIM IN THE LINE-UP!!! He is young and aggressive and if some other players were doing better you wouldn't notice his failures at the plate. He swings at to many first pitches and gets himself out lots of time, not the pitcher but he plays good defense and has a arm that the other teams respect and he hustles and plays hard and has good speed. The only way to truely evaluate him is to play him and fix him. He is coachable so therefor fixable. If he had just 10 more hits his batting average would be .305. Wow, no one would say anything then would they? Well if say he had an extra 25 hits and the total was 75 hits his avg. would be an AMAZING .380. Who would name the thread MVP SHOT. That is the small difference between sucess and failure in some people minds.

He should show off his speed as he goes back to the dugout, 3 out of every time he goes up to the plate.

He is in the bottom 28% of NL RF's for defense.

LMAO! How many pitches?

In out # 3 (the groundout)...ONE pitch

In out # 4 (The 3RD K OF THE NIGHT)..6 Pitches, all strikes of the swinging variety, including one that should have HIT HIM according to cbs sportsline.

No. If I was I'd be even more enraged they are squandering this talent (he has talent, he should be in the minors honing it).

What I'm doing is educational. People need to realize that batting average doesn't mean shit.

WE INTERRUPT THIS MESSAGE TO RBING YOU FRANCOUER'S 5TH AB!

Ball,
Foul,
Strike looking,
Ball,
Foul,
Francoeur struck out swinging.

0-5 SO FAR TONIGHT..4 STRIKEOUTS.

Bringing his K/BB RATIO TO A MOST PREPOSTEROUS 19/1 YES, THAT'S 19/1

LITTLE KNOWN STAT!

FRANCOUER IS CURRENTLY MAKING 2.5 OUTS PER HOUR!!!

2 K'S PER HOUR!!

If the Braves score more, he might get another AB, and when he K's, he could possibly get back on pace for 552 outs.
