I can't imagine a season as a Royal's fan

Trust me, as a Clippers fan, I have experienced as many bad teams as any fan in America. But this Royal's team is a disaster.

With the Clippers at least we only went through 82 games while baseball will put these fans through 162 games. We also had the fun time during the playoffs with the NBA Draft lottery.

In the NBA it was an even playing field and we always had a chance to improve...in MLB, big money is the only way to be competitive. A small market team like the Royals has little chance.

But to blow this many leads has to be torture. From a betting standpoint, this team would give you an ulcer.

Yes as a raptor fans ive always enjoyed the NBA lottery and then draft. KC fans can't even enjoy that cause who they draft in the 1st round isn't a lock to make it to the majors. Whoever holds the rights to broadcast KC games should just find tapes of the 1985 season and play those every night this summer.

I live here in town, being a Cardinals fan it allows for cheap tickets when they come to town to play the Royals. I live on the Kansas side of the line, so the tax dollars going towards the stadium don't matter to me either way. It would make the summer in KC a lot more if the Royals were winning, but when you have management like the Royals do, you can't expect much.

You of all people should be able to.

I could handle the losing...but the fact that they have no chance to get any better is what has to be depressing.

Couple that with such a long season and the fact that they have been ahead in so many games and I just couldn't stomach it. I couldn't stomach it for more than a week when I was backing them betting early in the season.

That one season a few years ago when they stayed in contention throughout the summer, I can't think of someone who rooted against them. A great story that year...reminds me of the Nats last summer.

I'll always root for the Royals simply because they're the worst...also why I have a soft spot for the small-market teams.

It kills me to suffer through this seemingly every day. I wish like hell, I could take over the GM duties for this organization. This would not continue to happen. Much too creative and competetive for this nonsense to continue. Just impossible for a guy like me to get into the industry.

I had a blast watching the Royals vs. St Louis @ Kauffman Stadium a year ago. Went after pigging out at Gates BBQ and playing at the Ameristar. Very nice ball park, and parking was a breeze. I got great seats, beer and brats were reasonable compared to some other parks (like Pac Bell, yikes). Nice fireworks show at the end. I got lots of free foam fingers saying "Go Royals" (which my kid still plays with) And oh yeah, there were more CARDINALS fans than Royals fans in the stands. Kind of bizzare how little support that team has.

MLB should be embarrassed too! Remember when the KC Royals were one of the 'LARGE' market teams of the mid/late 70s? They were actually what was considered a large market team because the drew more than almost any team in that ball park.

Now we have seen some teams like Oakland and Detroit and Florida compete in this completely unfair economic situation MLB continues to allow, but eventually teams will be forced to fold.

Once a proud franchise with Brett, White, Cowens, Mayberry, Leonard, Splittorf, Otis, Quisenberry, Wilson, Aikens, they had a great team for many years, and they played the game the right way, taking full advantage of that ballpark...a long gone memory now.

They had a good core not too long ago, they just couldn't afford to keep them! Ridiculous! Not every frnachise can work magig from twigs and berries like Billy Beane in Oakland!

They had all these players Johnny Damon, Jermaine Dye, Mike Sweeney, Carlos Beltran, Joe Randa, Mark Quinn , a pretty good nucleus.

40 million payroll won't get you far in MLB, how much does A-Rod make again?

Why would you be embarrassed. I find it admirable. Better than all these bandwagon jackoffs that like whoever is good and trendy.

It is a very nice ballpark. Very underrated stadium only because the team sucks. The thing was way before its time when it was built.

Big market/small market isn't the problem. Its ownership and management. Ownership pockets the Yankees and Red Sox money and then dont go and resign there own upcoming free agents (Beltran and Damon as examples) and then management has no clue what there doing in scouting and making trades and when you have that esp that latter it doesn't what market you are in there are going to be problems.

Yes but yu have the luxury of buying players every single year if you are Boston or NYY , and you can always add plays all year long if you are Boston or NY...You are a Blue Jays fan you know this by now.

I've seen the Yankees add teams #3 hitter and bat him 8th/ 9th or spot start him. That's just too much. :icon_conf

They should follow the A's and Marlins example and develop talent, trade it for more talent, and continue the cycle that will at least allow them to be competitive every 3-4 years.

The teams that would be far more frustrating for me to root for would be teams like the Orioles and Cubs. Teams that "should" compete for the championship year in and year out, yet front office blunder continue to hinder them.

The royals have a 50 million dollar payroll. Quite frankly that is enough to build a winner in he short term but the players they sign always leave me shaking my head.
