Back and ready to rock and roll this weekend after taking a refresher on Thursday. Wednesday was good to me, thanks to Towers and the Rays, mostly. Went 6-3 and won 2206 and some change but I still don't feel like I'm hitting my stride or getting ALL of the breaks. THanks to Victorino, that turd, I lost my RL bet on ZOna after Shittsburgh put up 2 in the ninth; a $774 swing. So it go... Now 73-95-3 and down 3772 for the 2006 season.

Not a lot looks good tonight. There are a few umps going who could affect my decisions but as of now, here's what it looks like...

How bout 'dem Cubbies? Blew a 5-3 lead in the ninth. I was going to bet Atlanta but wanted closer to a 'PICK' against Zambrano at Wrigley.
Dodgers playing better than anyone in baseball, outscoring people 55-12 in this recent seven-game winning streak. Not willing to take a big stand against Livan though, looks like he could be rounding into form and the Dodgers travel east after an off-day (which they prolly didn't even want as well as they were playing).

Think the Snakes are priced too high but they have won each of Webb's last 8 starts. Pedro is too high as well, though he does sport good numbers against the Fish. Ump stalkin there...

Lean to STL and Suppan against Hensley but he hasn't been all too sharp as of late and I'm not crazy about laying it here.

Tampa Bay is my best bet of the day. I realize the Sox are the Sox and the Rays are the Rays, but who in their right mind could make Boston the favorite? The 'Rays send out ace Kazmir to face Boston, fresh off a start against Florida where he fanned 11. He worked eight innings of shutout ball and is 7-1 with a 1.65 ERA in his last nine starts. His May ERA is 0.65 which is tied with Barry Zito of Oakland for best in the AL. He also has four wins in nine starts against Boston, with a 2.45 ERA. He's got more wins and strikeouts (53) against Boston than against anyone else. Meanwhile, the Red Sox trot out David Wells for the first time since April 12 and second time in '06. The 43-year-old yielded seven runs and 10 hits in four innings in his only start, then missed six weeks with a sprained right knee. He has good career numbers against Tampa but Kazmir has already beaten Boston twice this season and should be able to make it three in a row against the aging Wells. This line is a joke and I'm all over it.

The plays: Tampa Bay EVEN - 600 to win 600

Going OVER in Detroit. Rob Drake is a club member (60.31 percent strikes) and the Detroit pen is cashed out. Robertson has been great for Detroit in his last three starts and Westbrook shut out the Royals last Wednesday. Still, it's not asking too much for these two to get to 10 and there has already been good money on the OVER earlier today. The Tiger pen has two guys who are listed as 'used up' (thanks SY for the covers report)... I'll bite.

The play: CLE/DET OVER 9.5 even - 250 to win 250

Ridiculous price on the Royals tonight. It's not like this is September or something, my God. And yes, I saw Wire's thread earlier. Just making the comment.

The White Sox are one of three teams sending out a seven-game winner to start Friday, as Garcia takes the ball to face strugging Lilly and the Blue Jays in Toronto. Garcia has won seven straight decisions and was last 8-1 in 2001, when he pitched for Seattle. He scattered eight hits in eight shutout innings of a 7-0 win over the Cubs last Saturday. He has walked only one in the last 29 2/3 innings. Chicago has won three straight, five of its last six, and eight of its last 11 to keep pace with the torrid Tigers. Meanwhile, Lilly has struggled against the White Sox in his career, yielding eight homers in 33 innings. He gave up three of them in 1 2/3 innings at home the last time he faced Chicago, losing 10-7. And Lilly’s last start in Colorado was his worst to date in 2006. He threw just one curveball in 68 pitches last time in Colorado because of the thin air. But that’s his most effective weapon, and without using it, he wound up allowing five runs in 1 2/3 innings in a 5-3 loss to the Rockies last Sunday. Toronto starters have a 6.59 ERA in their last six games, with opponents hitting .325 with six homers in a span that covers 28 2-3 innings. The price is entirely too low, so lay the small number with Chicago. And Garcia has struggled IN Toronto in the past, and Marsh is the only honorary UMP in action tonight (7-3-1 in 2006)... looks like the correlation is in play.

The plays: ChiSox -116 - 348 to win 300
ChiSox -1.5 runs plus 136 - 200 to win 272
OVER 10 +102 - 300 to win 306
2teams - ChiSox -118 and OVER 10 -105 - 400 to win 1042.78

Lean to Liriano and the Twinkees tonight facing a righty (Hernandez). But I don't like the price, it's gotten away from me. Gotta pass.

Will be back if an UMP pops up.

Good luck all!
