ok heres the problem guys.. i live in canada so i can't use the good horse books like youbet.com or phonebet.com, so right now im using pinny to bet horses.. i know pinny is good and all, but I really hate the applet interface they use for betting horses (some of you may know what i mean) and it tends to freeze up at times... as well i can't enter any $ ammount I want like if i want to bet $60 i have to do two bets, 1 for 50 and 1 for 10.. on top of that, pinny closes the bets before the horses are even in the gate! that is what pisses me off the most.. i like to see last minute info and usually i will bet horses right when they are entering the gate, but unfortunately half my bets get cancelled because they are "closed" by the time I put them in even though i am watching live video and the horses arent even in the gates!! I have looked everywhere to find a good horsebook that i can use and cant find ANYTHING... i went to racebookreview and the stuff they have there isnt too good as well.. if anyone could help me I would GREATLY appreciate it thanks!!!

I use pinny and do not have those problems, but that does not do you any good.....Cris works well also and they say they do not dump into the tracks.

I rarely wager on the horses, so cannot give you near as good of an answer as many here will soon give you.

Stay tuned to this thread and you will recieve some very good replies.

Have a general idea what the better ones are, but like I said, many here wager the horses almost on a daily basis and will give you some great answers.

kobefan - what size of bets, which tracks interest you and what type of bets do you do.

I'm in canada and use a very good book but it has limitations at present.

CRIS has a very good racebook with 3% rebate on WPS and 8% on exotics. You can enter any amount. They pay full track odds up to their ceiling based on the level of track, i.e. A, B, C which is into 5 figures. They take bets right up until the gates actually open. They tell you how many minutes to post time and it changes every minute. They grade horse wagers very fast. Most importantly, a top tier book with no concerns about getting paid.

Just a side note on Pinny. They are flaky when it comes to when they shut off their pools. Yesterday I had put together a late Pick 4 ticket at Belmont. I had forgotten that the first leg was coming up since I was getting it handed to me yesterday. Quickly put in the bet, entered my password and hit enter just as the latch was sprung and the bell rang. Pinny took the wager and paid it when it hit.

I know what you mean, its really fluky because somtimes they take bets right up to the gates and sometimes they close a minute early...but I would say 20-30% of my wagers got cancelled because pinny closed the bets early... I was watching all those races live too so I know pinny closed them early for sure!

kobefan - thats good then - i'd recommend tradehorseracing.com which is a part of tradesports (very safe). They only do WPS and exactas at present and typically 5 meetings a day (better ones) eg: todai is BEL, AP, CD, CRC, BM and HOL.

The payouts are typically 11-12% above track odds (better than any rebate schemes), betting is right up till the gates open and grading is fast.

hey valueman... thx again! i actually have checked out tradehorseracing, and i know the payouts are better, but the only problem is that it doesnt have the smaller tracks I would like to bet on it as well... sometimes they offer only 5 tracks/day and dont include tracks like charlestown, woodbine, mountaineer for ex that i like to play at too... i thank you for your response though!

kobefan - I guess you like the tracks covered on HPI tv like me. I've asked tradehorseracing to cover woodbine too so hopefully they will in the near future.

Surprised you didn't know HPI-- IF you bet lots of exotics AND they may be potential signers, then it may be your only option-- no taxes, no payoff limits, no worry about getting paid-- not just due to dishonesty/cash flow problems, but for quirky exotics rules that may be in place..and you get those reward points/rebates to boot. However, keep this in mind:

For those who wheel or hedge exotics and play in C.dollars:
due to $ exchange & some US tracks not allowing $1 minimum
bet, min bet may be $3 or higher.
Canadian law, though it does not tax almost all winnings, does
require min. 25% exotics takeout. This should not deter betting
potential signers here wherever the takeout is a bit less-- but you may well get a a slightly smaller payout-- check here for those tracks with under 25% takeout

Another alternative for you is: http://www.ehorse.com/

Though the very best move you could make is(if you have acquaintances in this country IN a state legally acceptable to youbet):

1. Open a satellite internet account here--including installation-- AFTER you perform step 2.

2. Do the following AFTER you have secured the # from step 3: Rent a maildrop or use someone's location to receive mail here-- ditto obtain a free voip phone number with local area code-- there are various providers where it won't cost you a dime...esp. if you do not use it to make outgoing calls(make sure you do NOT get an area code of a banned state). Open a local bank account with a visa/mc logo atm card and/or secured credit card.

3. Apply for both a tax ID # & tax-exempt status here....drivers license, etc.

4. After ensuring your connection works properly, take down the equipment and return to C.

5. DO NOT notify anyone, esp. your sat ISP or Youbet, except for:

6. Providing your tax-exempt docs to Youbet.

To youbet/brisbet/etc. it will seem that you are betting from original location.

7. Make sure that in your dealings with Youbet, you NEVER utilize your C. email/phone/snail mail/web connection(other than thru your dish)/credit card/bank-- by the account & routing numbers you give your country away.

You can do all this on your own for free/very cheap over time, while your credit profile is created here(the bookies & ISP's will check your credit to make sure you're of age, reside in a legally-allowed area & have no negative past).

You can also pay someone to create everything for you here, saving time & travel expenses...for a fee.

In case you wonder, I do not come cheap-- the reason is I TIP contacts in various bureaus & offices to create someone in their computers & issue numbers & documents immediately, practically overnight. I create two double physical presences to both add value and to act as backup: a double Personal presence(real person with an accompanying a pen name or dba) AND a double Business presence(corporation & sub-corp)--
beacoup Credit Cards & other offers start arriving soon thereafter.
This servers many purposes:
1. A throwaway/spare/protectant identity, just like a throwaway email to thwart potential spammeres & credit thieves. When your wallet or identity is stolen, you continue normally w/ your everyday dealings, while you take care of that problem, without being inconvenienced/frozen out.
Maybe you want to write a book or make a pron movie with a pen / actor name, while both having necessary documents but protecting your real identity.
2. You can start a side business, that if it fails, won't ruin your personal and/or main corporate credit. Or you can keep two business ventures separate-- so that say, the more risky one, or perhaps ,one with a relative as partner, if it fails-- will not embargo the assets of the profitable one.

I do this in different countries & continents too btw.

Good luck.
