Well, made a nice run yesterday - in the National League. Went 0-4 in the AL and gave half of it back. Still, a 6-7 record and a 1145 profit is nothing to be ashamed of. Now at 86-113-5 and down 4328 for the season.
Quick side note. I really swung and missed with two teams all last week - Detroit and the White Sox. Fuck both of those sacks of shit. I went 1-6 and lost 1595 on Detroit games. And if that wasn't good enough, that shitface Ozzie Guillen and his sorry turds beat me out of almost every bet. They were kind enough to score TWO runs with Marsh behind the plate Friday and get me a push in Toronto. But I went 0-7-1 betting ChiSox sides and totals last week for a net loss of 2164. And I used to like Guillen too, lol... So please, if you see me have an opinion on either of those teams this week, run and run far and run fast... There aren't many UMP plays today (Holbrook and King Hirschbeck are the only two besides Ho Ho Hudson). Hudson is an honorary member and he's gotta be pissed cause he's had WAY too many unders lately, lol...

To the holiday card...

The Dodgers have made a run at first in the West one of their main guns has been Penny. It's borderline-remarkable that he continues to take the ball every five days despite considerable and obvious back pain. He's piling up wins as his ERA continues to drop. The Dodgers haven't lost consecutive games since early May. Meanwhile, Thomson is 1-2 with a 4.57 ERA in May. He is 0-4 with a 6.40 ERA in nine appearances against Los Angeles.

The play: Dodgers plus 106 - 300 to win 318

Kerry Wood still ain't right. They're even giving him extra days between starts to try to fix him. Not happening, though and with the wind blowing out again, expect to see balls sailing right and left onto Waveland Ave. Ramirez was solid the other night but has only made two career starts and will likely be unnerved by the winds as well.

The plays: Reds/Cubs OVER 10.5 -114 - 570 to win 500

2teams - Reds plus 115 and OVER 10.5 -120 - 300 to win 882.50

Back with the night games within an hour.

And remember to honor this holiday, folks. It's days like today that need to be a reminder of why we're so lucky to be able to have the ability to freely bet on baseball...

Onto the rest of 'em... will add the UMP plays when they become available.

The Nationals are playing as well as anyone in the NL and they are generously priced tonight in Philadelphia. O'Connor's been strong this season, going 2-2 with a scant 2.65 ERA. The rookie lefty hasn't allowed more than three ER in any of his six starts, and gave up only one run and three hits in six innings against Houston on Wednesday. He threw just 80 pitches so he should be fresh tonight. The Phillies have never seen O'Connor. Meanwhile, they counter with Lieber. The righty's ERA is still near 6 and he really struggled in his last start, complaining about umpire Jerry Meals instead of worrying about getting guys out. He yielded two homers in New York in a Philly loss last Wednesday. He has given up at least four earned runs in seven of his 10 starts. With Washington swinging hot bats, look for his struggles to continue tonight.

The play: Washington plus 144 - 400 to win 576

Another ridiculous price in New York, as Vargas tries to help the Diamondbacks win for the 11th time in 14 games. Arizona leads the National League West by 1 1/2 games over the Dodgers. Vargas was solid last time, pitching five shutout innings after yielding two runs to Pittsburgh in the first. Meanwhile, the Mets counter with Trachsel. The veteran righty yielded six runs on seven hits in five innings. He has not won a start in more than a month. Since beating San Francisco on April 25, Trachsel is 0-3 with a 6.67 ERA in five starts. He's allowed 19 runs and 34 hits in 25 2/3 innings. At this price, the Snakes are the right side.

The play: Arizona plus 135 - 400 to win 540

Lean to Colorado tonight but nothing for right now; if the price goes up, then I'll prolly bite...

Toronto has beaten the Red Sox five out of eight this season, but all three losses came with that turd Towers pitching. The Jays look to continue their dominance of Boston with Halladay going to the hill. The 2003 Cy Young Award winner is 5-0 with a 2.34 ERA over his last seven starts, including 3-0, 1.19 ERA at home. Toronto has won his last seven starts, including a 4-1 triumph on Tuesday against Tampa Bay in which the righty allowed one run and seven hits while coming within one out of his third complete game of the season. He's 1-0 against Boston this season. Clement will face the Jays for the fourth time this season. He's 2-1 so far but his ERA is also 5.87. Expect Toronto to tag the inconsistent Clement early and often to build a comfortable lead for their ace as they win the opener of this statement series.

THe plays: Toronto -175 - 700 to win 400

and Toronto -1.5 runs plus 115 - 300 to win 345

Seattle is in a good spot tonight, getting the Rangers fresh off winning three of four from chief AL West rival Oakland. Now the Mariners are a slight 'dog' tonight despite having a tremendous edge in the pitching matchup. This is the time of year Washburn begins to heat up. His ERA is a shade over 4 and he has beaten Texas seven times in his career. The left-hander has allowed four runs or less in nine of his 10 starts and is holding hitters to a .242 batting average, his lowest mark since 2002 when he won a career-high 18 games. The Rangers counter with rookie Rheinecker, who is making his second big-league start and first since April 22. He's being called up to replace Tejeda in the rotation. The Mariners are struggling but this appears to be their best opportunity to win one in this series.

The play: Seattle plus 101 - 300 to win 303

UMPS later... GL all...

CKR,good luck with the Jays play. The line is a little high but I love when Halladay has the ball.

Thanks BigCat, I feel ya brother... GL to us...

I thought I had seen it all. Thought I had won and/or lost a bet in every way possible.

Guess not. How could EIGHT EYES not see that Freel's ball went into the net and not below it? A double? What a travesty. Oh well. Typical for me. Only a $1070 swing.

Adding SEA OVER 10.5 -110 - 330 to win 300

Gibson is behind the plate and he boasts nice OVER numbers over the last three years. THe visitor-and-over correlation exists so I'll nibble at it, too. Rio was begging me...

SEA plus 102 and OVER 10.5 -105 - 200 to win 588.76

Betting Hudson OVER if he's out West. There are three places where the lineup has yet to be announced but I'm out to go watch the Heat get the cash tonight... Will get the call from a buddy about Hudson at some point so just assume a $400 over on Hudson at one of the best lines available from now until first-pitch. A $300 goes for Hirschbeck UNDER too if he pops up in Diego, Oakland or Anaheim. THe way he calls the game is so vastly different from anyone except for Eddings that I have to bite (this is for Wire... Hirschbeck and Eddings are two UMPS that regardless of other handicapping info, they are the most important factors in the totals most every time they are working behind the plate. Pitchers ALWAYS have the advantage.)...

GL all!
