Jays place A.J. Burnett on the 60 day DL, they have to be sick over this.

Can you say damaged goods?

Toronto will have a hard time making the WC without him....wasted money!

:nopityA: Burnett signed 5 year 55 million dollar deal this past off season, he's 49-52 lifetime

its retro-active to when he last pitched on April 21 so he should be back on June 21st which was the plan date of return since he went on the DL.

Point is, the $55 Million could have been far better used than on a high priced injury risk.

Like Kevin Millwood??? All pitchers are injury risk. Ill wait til he is able to throw off the mound before passing judgement if he is a bust or not.

Jerry Reinsdorf has a long-standing policy of not signing pitchers to 4+year contracts.

Dmmd, I like you a lot, but this homerism crap is getting old.

:nopityA:

He's already been a waste, I will be shocked if he wins 7 games this year.

The guy is an under .500 career pitcher, nothing special when you're talking about 55 million dollar contracts.

Ok a) there are alot more homers then me. I don't go spamming (for lack of a better word) promoting the Blue Jays or any other teams I have a somewhat rooting interest in. (The avatar not withstanding since I don't go in the soccer room saying Portugal is going to win) Now on to your points. Burnett could be a bust and they over paid to get him but that was the market price for them to get him since the other options where too old such as Millwood and not nearly good enough in Washburn. All I am saying that to deem a 5 year contract a bust 3 months into it is pointless. Im just taking a wait and see attitude on him til Burnett actually throws injury free for the Blue Jays. To the last point on the fact he is one game under .500 lifetime. Smart teams do not pay for past performance teams pay for what they feel will be there future performance since the Jays couldn't of seen his arm being hurt when they signed him they see a 29 year old pitcher who has the talent to win 15 games. Now will he who knows guess we will see what he has come June 21st hopefully.

Biggest problem with the Jays, is they paid the market rate for Burnett. If they didn't get him, the Yankees or another team in their division would have signed him. The other teams can afford that error more than the Jays. Other FA's the Jays have signed have been good so far.

They only put him on the 60 day DL so they could add another player to the roster he's still gonna be back in 3 weeks
