Anybody with thoughts on Toronto, with Lilly, sweeping the visiting Boston Red Sox today or can Boston salvage 1 win out of the 3-game set with Pauley, who I don't know a heck of a lot about, on the mound? :icon_conf

I don't want to curse it but Lilly hasn't lost to Boston since 2004 he has very good success of them and Manny + Ortiz don't really touch him. Toronto is a tough match-up for a rookie spot starter to come into. I'd bet Toronto sweeps but I've been struggling lately so take it with a grain of salt.

toronto is rightly favored in this game, but don't count the Boston bats out as they may come alive. the over might be the play here

Toronto is craving a sweep. They have failed to accomplish this so far. The topic has been brought up several times with the players. I know for certain Toronto will not have a let down tonight. Whether it will be good enough who knows.

I think Boston is getting way too much respect here, Lilly has had great success against Boston, Boston is calling on a spot starter to face one of the best hitting teams in baseball, Toronto has had great success against Boston this year. The line seems a little low as it seems when New York or Boston is an underdog it isn't by much. Vernon Wells has 8 of his 15 HR's off Boston this year as it seems Toronto gets up for these games against the Red Sox's. It's tough to call a kid up from AA and expect him to minimize a very hot baseball team.

Thanks guys. By the same token Makemakercolin, you have to figure the Red Sox can't be too happy dropping the first 2 of the 3-games series either. Losing the 1st game by a run to Halliday was a tough loss and then they had to follw that up with last night's 8-5 defeat with Beckett going against Chacin. So when all is said and done, Boston went up against, probably, Toronto's top 2 starters in Halliday (for sure) and Chacin and lost both with argueably their top 2 starters on the mound in Clement and Beckett. So as even though you mention that Lilly has pitched well agaibst Boston in his career, watch if this isn't the game the Bosox win to avoid the sweep with 'who' on the mound. Maybe over is the correct play if playing this game afterall.

sorry for the late post...
Vernon Wells is a no-go for TOR tonight with a shoulder injury.
Lilly is 5-0 in his last 5 against BOS
got a hunch that BOS will hit their TT (5) tonight... they really hit the ball hard last night vs. chacin and have had some pop in their bats this series.

would've done well to play my hunch instead of fading myself...
Jays had their chances in this one early on... they had the kid on the ropes and let him get his feet set again... WAY too many stranded base runners..... how many did they strand at 3rd base alone?!... Rios and Glaus early in the game had hits that were about 5 feet from homers, but alas.. nothing.. alfonzo is lookin like a bag of crap so far...
this one wasnt meant to be...
