The Pistons won but the Heat get away with murder. They could be called for an illegal defense almost everytime. There is no way that the Pistons could ever drive to the basket. This isn't the NCAA, it's the NBA. Call the defensive violation or change the rule to allow zones.

if you shoot it beyond that large arc it's called a 3 point shot and you get 3 points for a bucket

Miami is running an illegal defense. I'm not saying that you can't run a zone in the NBA. Miami should have been called for more three second violations.

Sorry. Skimmed over your post and read the last line that said does not allow zones. The line that says "change the rule to allow zones"

The rule is you can't be in the lane for more than 3 seconds UNLESS you are close enough to touch an opponent. I don't think this was true because the Pistons usually keep at least one player pretty close to the lane for rebounding purposes. Still it is true, not an enforced rule all the time, but frankly it doesn't make a big difference as defenders can still get to the hoop with one stride.
