SS,
I couldn't be more proud to be a Sabre fan than I am this season.

One period away from the SC finals with FOUR d-men out against a very good, veteran, well-coached Carolina team.

I honest to God feel we didn't choke tonight -- the better lineup just found a way to win.

This team was picked to finish 28th by most sports media outlets at the start of this season and they defied all odds.

damn fine season, it was a winable game for the sabres, but that extreme amount of talent with Rechhi, Brindamour & Weight was too much for them to overcome....

Kanes were picked as the 26th rated team at the beginning of the season in the future book at the lv hilton. see this thread http://forum.therx.com/showthread.php?t=342383&highlight=hurricanes+futures
Some here were lucky enough to get them at 40/1.

Hurricanes also have one of the lowest payrolls in the Nhl. Sorta like the Pirates making it to the World Series.

well.... thats kind of a stretch since it was the first 'CAP' year.... all teams were subject to 39 million dollar cap, werent they?

That was the max, not sure what the minimum was.
