I can't remember what the deal is with this. Thought, I'd read a year or more ago that it was allowed, but I'm not sure now. If they are allowed to have phone accts is it only for Las Vegas residents or what areas of Nevada are covered. I may have only dreamed this as my memory is fuzzy about this. (Hold the jokes! LOL)

Unless it has changed I think yes they can. Used to be pretty crappy though, I think limits might have even been capped at $2500 a day? Wait for a local that knows for sure but I think this is mostly right. Might be a way around the limit (if it's still in place), I am sure someone here who lives there will know for sure.

I Have 2 Phone Accounts In Vegas, Leroys Ans Stations Casinos. You Have To Live Here To Be Elegible For Them As They Use A Beeper To Give You An Access Number For Every Call You Make.

?? So you have a beeper? They send info to the beeper? I used to have a beeper. It would work lots of places I went. It would work even if I left town. Help us out Tommy B.

Does one have to live in Las Vegas? Can you live in Nevada? Are their daily limits? tulsa

Only Nevadans are allowed to use their telephones to place sports bets with local casinos because the system is designed to block out-of-state calls, according to regulators and casino operators. State law says no sports wager can be made from outside the state.

also, this dialogue between jjgold and sugarBear should clear things up

JJGold " addressing SugarBear
Can you set me up with a vegas phone account and I will send you the money and we will use your name on the account and you phone in the wagers?

I think the lines are weak there and beatable "

SugarBear "That is not in the realm of things I do. One for as much time as I seem to have this time of year I dont for that. Two haveing been on the otherside of the counter and seeing how moe hills get made into mountains it is cash and low pro is the way to go. I have nothing to my name and plan to keep it all. My name goes on nothing of that nature. I dont have an offshore of any sort either. Plus I would greatly jepordize my gaming card and let me tell you in this state you cant even be a janitor without one. So the answer is NO.

JJ
"Sugar Bear very few people say NO to me.

Let me step away from the computer for a little bit an see how this sits with me before over reacting

Ok now let me step in and clear things up furhter. The beeper requirement was dropped. Anyone using it is just taking extra precausions. The state took the burden of proof off the casinos in this regard. It was done to see who would take advantage of it and to see if it is viable to open up nationwide on the phone.

Ok let me just clear up whom I may or may not be and why I would make such a response to JJ.

While I do not work at the Stardust now I do retain primetime up to the second contact with the powers that be here. Chief among them Robert Walker. In addition my contemporaries sit in key number 2 and 3 positions here and are ready to asend to the next level. I am also currently a client services manager for Jim Feist.

Culture wise the people who have always run things here still do and most of them know me well. My real nickname is JUICE. If I hit the street here doing something like that the powers that be on both sides would be on top of me in a second. I am one of the good guys and have never been turned. I HAVE HAD OFFERS BELIEVE ME. I am the last person you want to use in that way as you would be uncovered quickly. I am too well known and would not be allowed to go far.

The sum total is that a lot of peoples attention will have been gotten and I know what the penalty is for doing something like that and getting caught is. I CAN TELL YOU STORIES OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN CAUGHT.
THERE IS A GUY NAMED CALVIN OUT HERE WHO HAS LIVED IN HIS 77 CADDY SINCE 92 OVER THIS KIND OF STUFF. Its not a good thing.

For my personal self I dont need a phone account at a book at all. I will never make that easy for myself to lose. I worked the phones for years at the Dust and I can tell you for a fact once you deposit your money into the account, its ours. Recreational bettors hardly ever cash out but always break there necks to deposit. Please believe me when I tell you.

When I want to get down I go the hard way. I save a lot of money that way because it aint easy to pull off and aggravating as hell but I win enough to lose it back with enough money left in the middle to pay for the little things. Like GAS in the car, lunch money, small groceies and bills, etc.

It is an eternal fight for pocket money to pay for those little things and its what makes sports betting worthwhile for me. I have a day job for the rest.

Couldn't you just get a cell phone with a 702 area code?

No.

You call them. They send a message to your pager with a code number. It's necessary to call them back with the pager code they sent out.

If you are outside of NV, your pager will not get the message. (I'm sure of this part).

And if you are outside of NV, the sportsbook's phone number you call will block your call. (Not positive about this part).

Interesting--Thanks. So you don't have to reside in Vegas, but only be a Nevada resident and calling from in the State ---Tha's correct right?

And the limits are around $2500/day per Casino.? That would suit me.

I could easily beat that system if i wanted to.. Simply leave the pager in las vegas, preferabbly with some one you trust..

then get a cellphone registered there and leave the the cell phone on and plugged into an electric connection

If you are not in las Vegas and you wish to make a bet, simply have your friend in las vegas give you the code off the pager, Then call your cellphone that you left in las vegas..And the cellphone will dial the number of the hotel..(You program the cell phone to forward the call)

Whatever software they use will only pick up the number of the cell phone not the number of the phone you are calling from..

But why go through all that bullshit for a 2500$ wager????

You might as well swing down the sin city and while you are down there, run through the Spearmint Rhino for some R&R

Why for $2500? Man you overestimate the majority of the players that frequent this forum. My guess is that the average bet is well under that figure. It certaintly would be for me. I just wasn't clear if they still used it or were testing it or what have you.

I was under the impression that if some one had 2500 to burn on some games, they would not go through the particular hustle i just posted above..

I would rather post that in an offshore account.

Exactly. The situation is fairly worthless, and certainly not worth the time to try to scam around the rules - getting a 3rd party involved, etc., would be a ridiculous waste of time and effort -
especially because it's worse than anyone realizes thus far in this thread -

one can wager a total of $2500 per 24 hours, BUT the limits PER BET tend to be nickels at best for every sport.

This isn't true. They dropped the requirement if the casino issues you a phone that can be tracked by GPS. I don't even know if any of the casinos have done this yet. If not the pager rules are still in effect. They did drop the rules for horse racing.

Trust me on this guys, the NGCB did some things to make sure you can't get around it easily. The reason this all happened is because they got detailed schematics of the phone network that no one has except for the phone system designers. They used that to find some loopholes they won't mention that you would have to have absolutely incredible luck in finding. They supposedly made some bets on the California side of Lake Tahoe and used it as justification for this. They have tried every trick in the book to see to it that you can't even call from a spot a mile across the border. The pager doesn't even work anywhere near the state lines, it just works about 20 miles from the center of Vegas. The limits are $2200 a day, but only $550 per bet. Even with GPS enabled phones or using the intranet service Stations has with Cox Cable they still refused to change this limit when it is quite clear both of these are absolutely unbeatable at determining location. As most people know no one really sees value in having these accounts so they give you no slack.

I must really be missing something here/ OR you all are mostly "whales".
But-IF it can be used State wide and you have 2 account at 2 casinos and want to bet an NFL game for $1,000; it's OK ?
I can see NO reason that would not be HUGELY succesfull. I mean the driving and parking alone would be some hassle.
As a little player, I must not belong to this group!
