Below is parts of the bill I have obtained from Washington's state legislature webpage. A similar bill is now being brought to attention in Illinois and Nevada, of all places. It is thought that each state where gambling is legal will allow their in-state casinos to decide whether or not to place a similar bill on the state agenda.

Basically, in a nutshell, anyone who knowingly gambles on the internet or any form of telecommunications service would be charged with a Class C felony. So PartyPoker is now the same penalty as Child Pornography.

Below is the parts of the bill. Looking for replies from anyone.

AN ACT Relating to reaffirming and clarifying the prohibition
against internet and certain other interactive electronic or mechanical
devices to engage in gambling; amending RCW 9.46.240 and 67.70.040; and creating a new section.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION.

Sec. 1. It is the policy of this state to prohibit
all forms and means of gambling, except where carefully and
specifically authorized and regulated. With the advent of the internet
and other technologies and means of communication that were not
contemplated when either the gambling act was enacted in 1973, or the
lottery commission was created in 1982, it is appropriate for this
legislature to reaffirm the policy prohibiting gambling that exploits
such new technologies.

I'm sorry. It may have been discussed a few weeks ago, but it is now officially finalized after all the amendments and going into effect next week. I know it's always tried to be passed, but always fell short.

Sorry once again for old news.

I am a religious online gambling freak w/ poker, sports betting ... hell even a few games of bingo w/ my girlfriend.

However, if I lived in the state of Washington, I would have to say that a Class C felony would probably stop me from pursuing online gambling.

Those damn "spiritual" indians are behind this legislation no doubt. They don't want any competition.

anyone know the laws for Canada? i never really looked into it

As Pierre Trudeau put it roughly the government does not want to control what goes on one's home. There are some tax things you have to deal with if you are obtaining your income solely by gambling put placing a bet offshore isn't going to get you thrown in jail. That is a grey area that the courts don't want to deal with it.

I am not stopping yet, as I do live in Nebraska. Living in Nebraska might be a good thing in the end, b/c it is illegal to gamble within the borders so there probably will never be any casinos trying to get the bill passed.

Washington is the only state that has passed this bill so far, but like I said before, I know for sure Illinois and Nevada is now looking into this ammended bill. Basically, it is said that all "legal gambling" states are going to allow their in-state casinos an opinion if they would like to pass this bill or not.

Ladeda : Am I right in saying that you were a Seinfeld watcher? That show has allowed anyone and everyone the same greeting when they meet me ... grrrrrrrrrr!

I think the State of Washington has been sold to the Indians or maybe Bill Gates and Microsoft haven't heard yet that this law will NOT help sales of their product in ANY manner.

I just hope it doesn't spread from the borders of Washington, whatever is in the air there !!!!!!
