HELL NO!

Just as I have defended and stated for 3+ years on this fine website practically on a monthly basis (against many that seemed to disagree with me by the way), KIRK FERENTZ has no intention of going back to the NFL or another CFB program currently and never seriously has.

Kirk loves Iowa, and a million more reasons to even more now!:103631605

The deal does not extend his contract, which expires after 2012.
"Coach Ferentz is among the very best coaches in the nation and this compensation package is reflective of that," said Iowa athletic director Bob Bowlsby, who is leaving next month to become athletic director at Stanford.
The agreement "recognizes our confidence that coach Ferentz will continue to lead the University of Iowa football program to high achievement on and off the field in the years ahead."

Ferentz's deal makes him one of the best paid coaches in the Big Ten and vaults him past Ohio State coach Jim Tressel, who last month signed a seven-year extension reportedly worth $2.4 million in the first year.
Tennessee's Phillip Fulmer, Florida's Urban Meyer, South Carolina's Steve Spurrier, Oklahoma's Bob Stoops and Texas' Mack Brown are all among the growing group of college football coaches making at least $2 million per year.
Ferentz, a former offensive line coach for the Cleveland Browns under Bill Belichick then briefly at Baltimore, has been courted by NFL owners in recent years. He is entering his eighth year at Iowa and has compiled a 49-36 record.
After a difficult start, Iowa has blossomed under his leadership.
In the last four years, the Hawkeyes won Big Ten titles in 2002 and 2004, tied a school record with 38 victories and finished in the Top 10 three times. Ferentz was voted the Associated Press Coach of the Year in 2002 and has twice been named Big Ten Coach of the Year.

this is well deserved. i believe i read last year that the 2012 date is also the year his youngest son will graduate high school or college... can't remember which. coincidence?

unfortunate it was also announced that Corey Robertson and Kelvin Bailey were leaving the team. I was really anxious to see both of them develop.

Why sign a deal for that long when the gold standard for coaches will be $3+ mil?

Knock it off ... ya scared the shit out of me!!

Did ya watch that video of the kid Johnson they picked up ??

Wow .... some talent and easy to see why Ohio State wanted him

We also take a look at a QB/ATH out of the talent-rich football state of Ohio. Derrell Johnson, QB out of Cardinal Mooney in Youngstown is quite an athlete. He will make plays with his arm and legs. Tonight SunshinePreps brings you a "First Look" at this big time playmaker.

His record is probably under .500 if you took the nonconference MAC bottomfeeders out of it.

Live in Youngstown now and have saw Johnson play - he is quick. Hard to battle Ohio St for Ohio recruits - the vast majority of their roster is from Ohio

Ohio St will mop the Kinnick turf with the Hawkeyes this year BTW :toast:

Keep dreaming ....

Iowa will win just like they did last time OSU came to Iowa City

Sorry .. things are aligned for the Hawks this year ... your boys lose 9 starters on defv ... Hawks have one of the top qb/ rb combos in the country along with a solid offf/defv line setup / deep at tight end / One of the toughest settings in the country to win at on the road

We spanked OSU 2 yrs ago ... you spanked us last year ... We WILL RETURN the favor this year AND YA TAKE TO THAT THE BANK

Iowa is loaded and no Mich or OSU on the the schedule in 2007 or 2008 sets up the Hawks for a deft National Championship run as KF has stockpiled a ton of deep talent

Either way .. good talking to a Buckeye fan and wish ya the best in this
upcoming season and hope ya rebound off that asswhipping in Iowa City

* FYI: damn .. Matta is stockpiling as I saw the latest committment and Oden is a MONSTER so nice pickup along with Conley and others

Yea man we are dying to see this Oden kid is all about. Supposedly he would be the hands down number 1 draft pick if he was eligible this year. Havent seen much of him. They also had some other very good signings. No reason for a university that big with that kind of money shouldn't have a top 25 basketball team year in year out.

Bucks will be tough to beat in foots this year. They were just hitting their stride with the spread offense when the season ended. Smith getting suspended for game 1 last year really fucked up the early season. A full offseason where he is the clear cu tnumber 1 will help. And don't worry about the defense, we aren't exactly hurting for all american recruits to plug in there. They will need to come together quick though with Texas, Penn St, Iowa all on the early season schedule. Cant wait :toast:

49-36 in 8 years is that considered good? One would think that is not so good, wouldnt one?
