Was looking through my box and I have some good ones, and would like to know what they're worth. Especially the Bonds and Smoltz rookie cards.
Thanks

www.beckett.com

But I can tell you that 80's and early 90's baseball cards are worthless for the most part. If you want I have a subscription there so I can look up the prices for you.

It's because of the unbelievable overproduction, ESPECIALLY in the early 90's. 1991 Pro Set Football made 750,000 800 card sets that now sell for about $5-$10 for the whole set and the Brett Favre rookie card is half the value. Hell, I think Topps made a million sets for 1993 baseball.

Why are they not worth much from 80's-90's? No good products in those 2 decades? I thought the Griffey Jr. and Sosa cards would probably be good too.
Would like to know the prices on these cards please:
92-93 Fleer Ultra NBA award winner Michael Jordan card 1 of 5(also Oneil crd 5of 5)
1990 card #200 Michael Jordan NBA Hoops
Oneil rookie cards from 93 or 94 from UpperDeck, Fleer, Skybox,
Thanks Hines

Also remember, that there is a big difference between what a card books at and what you can sell it for.

The Ultra Jordan Award Winner books at $20, the O'Neal wasn't in the Award Winners set that year. Card 5 in the Award Winners 92-93 set was Pervis Ellison.

The 1989-90 Jordan Hoops card #200 books at $3.

The basketball that sells well from this time is 1984 STAR. If you have a Jordan from that set, you have at least 4 figures in your hand.

As for the three Shaq rookie cards, I need to know the #'s on the back of these cards to see if they are true RC's are just cards from his rookie year. Same with your baseball cards, if you give me the year set and number on each card I can give you a price.

That's true. It's hard to get involved involved in the hobby as a kid now because the cheapest SRP is usually $3, although Topps Total comes out with some $.99 packs now. It is definitely a hobby for adults. Hell, look at Upper Deck Exquiste, that product sells for $595, unbelievable. Also, the only cards worth anything the past few years by and large are memorabilia cards or autograph cards, with the exception of the SP Authentic Tom Brady RC (books at $800).

That's ok Hines, thanks for taking the time to look them up for me.
I'm not really interested in what any of them are worth anymore.
Again thanks for answering, have a nice day.:103631605

I can remember buying single cards for a penny. That included a stick of gum. Man am I old?

Vintage cards is where the baseball market is for sure. And yes, PSA and BGS grading have helped the industry greatly, but the process is still too expensive. The football market is driven by newer cards, the top cards in the hobby are the 98 Playoff Contenders Manning, the 00 Playoff Contenders Brady, the 00 SP Authentic Brady, and recently Larry Johnson's have been selling for outstanding prices.

The truest prices are on eBay. Just go on there and search the completed auctions to see what they sold for.

Yes grading process is expensive, BGS has coupons is every one of there monthly price guides and PSA offers specials on their website

New football cards with Bush , Leinart and Young etc and going crazy

On E Bay I look for vintage players I have targeted that are selling for less that SMR

HOF Players can be had this way as new collectors only want new cards and players

I love vintage guys, it's amazing how many times I am able to trade a say J.J. Arrington rookie autograph for an Earl Campbell autograph. 1997 Upper Deck Legends is one of my favorite sets ever, 170+ autographs of NFL legends, outstanding.

I love Beckett for all their articles on "hot" hobby guys, last year they guy they propped up was J.P. Losman, this year it is Philip Rivers, both are busts. They have barely mentioned a word about the guy I'm heavily invested in, Steven Jackson. I have about 2k worth of Jackson stuff right now and this year I expect him to explode with Martz gone.

If you are looking at your cards that were in a shoe box, chances are your cards are worthless because only PRESTIENE MINT cards are sellable in those decades and there is no way that cards kept in a shoe box are in good shape.

#2) you can look at Beckett all you want, but unless you can find a buyer those prices they put in the magizine are worthless.

The best baseball card price guide in the country is EBAY. Check the completed auctions. Thats the real worth of the cards.

Hey Hines.

I have alot of old Bowman cards that a guy paid a gambling debt with.

I could name every value when I was a little younger. Now, they are sleeved and just sit in a box.

Maris ,Mantle, Mays. Best one in the lot is a Feller. I am going to have to get them out.

Thank you Hines, I appreciate your help. All the cards kept in a shoe box are in hard plastic straight out of a pack. They might have been worth something, just not much in that era.
