Rather than just give a thanks to all of the brave men who died during World War II, I suggest reading this book by a marine on the front lines for the Pacific campaigns in Peleliu and Okinawa, its called With the Old Breed by E.B. Sledge and tells about the hell him and his fellow Marines went through on the more forgotten, but much fiercer, front. Sledge writes an honest narrative without the flowery talk we see all too often in war memoirs. He gives a true to life depiction of what the average front-line marine had to go through during the war. This book will really make everyone appreciate the sacrifice these men made for our country.
