What's the Reason for this Boring Barbaro "Story?"

ON A SLEEPING CITY SIDEWALK . . . Sunday Morning, and rudely wakened in the form of a load of emotional diarrhea (probably ersatz) eructed from my laptop and all over the bed.

Why, please tell me, would Rx publish a dull, womens magazine-type "story" like it's lead today? The writer had something to sell - probably under contract to produce "copy" - but he had nothing to say.

Not, methinks, to readers at a site like this, populated as it is by more than just casual bettors or "fans." Folks, here, I'd wager, have seen many a horse break down on the track, part of the game. No just claiming platers, but animals in the class category of Barbaro. (Remember Ruffian?)

Hogan's opportunistic gush is an embarrassment to both Rx and himself. I don't blame him for writing it - writing is a biz, and if someone will buy your mush go for it - but why the devil would Rx use it?

Is it a deal with a syndicate, where the subscriber (Rx?)must use any turd that's sent to them? Bad deal.

If there is a Barbaro/Preakness story that I'd like to read, it would be a followup to the pre-race comment by tv commentator/ex-jockey Gary Stevens, where he wondered why Prado was giving Barbaro such an extended warmup prior to the race. Did Prado sense something wrong?

The quality of the lead stories used by Rx is mixed, to say the least. Some are so-so, others are good, a few are great -- and now and then deadly stuff like the Hogan offering.

"Ok, pal," one may sneer, "it wasn't Grantland Rice or Red Smith, but do you really think you could do better, wise guy?"

Gotta go out now for my run on the boardwalk, but when I get back let me take a run at that.
