Has to be Trevor Hoffman. Hoffman is not the first name that comes to mind when you think of the dominant closers because he doesn't have the "stuff". But in this day of blown saves, there is nobody more reliable out there. Hoffman tops out at 88 (on a good day) with the fastball and throws his nasty change and that's IT. He is not a regular on the All-Star team but should go this yr and should be a HALL OF FAMER. He is 12 for 12 this yr and closing in on Lee Smith. Trevor is Ageless and classy as can be.

i'll still say Brandon Webb is the most underrated pitcher in baseball.
Guy leads the NL in wins and ERA hovering right at 2.01, and most people still would leave htem off their best pitchers list

They said he was 11/11 coming into the game today, maybe it was not a save position? That or they had their stats wrong, either way 12/12 or 11/12 is fucken solid. He is one of the best closers - I agree.

Chris Young up and coming without a doubt... back to back 2 hitters with a no-no through 6 in both?

IF only the Padres could score for him...

According to units won this year:

1. Scott Kazmir (Tampa Bay Devil Rays) - 7-3, 3.15 ERA, +8.60 units.

2. Roy Halladay (Toronto Blue Jays) - 7-1, 2.81 ERA, +7.80 units.

3. Tom Glavine (New York Mets) - 8-2, 2.59 ERA, +7.51 units.

4. Curt Schilling (Boston Red Sox) - 8-2, 3.86 ERA, +7.28 units.

5. Gustavo Chacin (Toronto Blue Jays) - 6-1, 5.11 ERA, +7.13 units.

6. Miguel Batista (Arizona Diamondbacks) - 5-2, 4.12 ERA, +6.48 units.

7. Brandon Webb (Arizona Diamondbacks) - 8-0, 2.01 ERA, +5.94 units.

8. Ryan Madson (Philadelphia Phillies) - 5-3, 6.04 ERA, +5.75 units.

9. Bronson Arroyo (Cincinnati Reds) - 7-2, 2.40 ERA, +5.73 units.

10. Tim Hudson (Atlanta Braves) - 5-3, 3.99 ERA, +5.51 units.

Note - I am not saying all these guys are necesssarily underrated but for them to be making these units some gamblers must have them not rated high enough. As you see some of them have high ERA's and you can bet they are getting great run support, so that plays in to these rankings as well. Just threw this out here, copied it from article over at Covers and it though it sort of ties in to this I couldn't make a case for all these guys.

Here is Trevor's statline on the yr. He is a perfect 12 for 12 and his WHIP is less than 1. Not only does he get the save, but he hardly breaks a sweat or makes his backers sweat:

Miguel Batista has definitely been pitching well of late. Also don't forget Armas Jr and rookie Mike O'Connor of the Nats. Armas hasn't lost in nine straight starts if I'm not mistaken, and O'Connor has pitched at least 5 innings and given up no more than three runs in EVERY start this season.
