I think this is the greatest era of talent in MLB history. I count 36 locks for the HOF and a ton of players that are on the verge with just a few more good years. Also a ton of young players that have a shot.

ABSOLUTE STONE COLD LOCKS:
These are player that if there career ended today they would get in. 100% of this list gets in.

ROGER CLEAMENS
JEFF BAGWELL
CRAIG BIGGIO
FRANK THOMAS
DEREK JETER
ALEX RODRIQUEZ
GARRY SHEFFIELD
BERNIE WILLIAMS
RANDY JOHNSON
MARIANO RIVERA
JOHN SMOLTZ
CHIPPER JONES
ANDREW JONES
ALBERT PUJOS
GREG MADDOX
JEFF KENT
OMAR VIZQUEL
BARRY BONDS
MANNY RAMERIZ
KEN GRIEFFY
TOM GLAVINE
PEDRO MARTINEZ
TREVOR HOFFMAN
PUDGE RODRIQUZ
MIKE PIAZZA
RICKY HENDERSON (STILL ACTIVE)
JIM THOME

ALMOST STONE COLD LOCKS
All they have to do is have a few more good years and they are in. I say about 65% of this list will end up getting in after all is said and done.

MIGUEL TEJADA
VLAD GUERRERO
ROY HALLADAY
TROY GLAUS
ICHIRO
JIM EDMONDS
DERREK LEE
JULIO FRANCO
CARLOS DELGADO
TODD HELTON
DAVID ORTIZ
JASON GIAMBI
MIKE MUSSINA

LONG SHOTS, BUT STILL A CHANCE
This list is players whos career is close to being done and are real long shots. About 25% of this list gets in.

DAVID WELLS
M ALOU
KENNY RODGERS
ANDY PETIETTE

WAY TOO EARLY TO TELL LIST.
This is a list of players that show HOF potential but have alot of homework to do. Simply much too early in there careers to make an assumption. I understand that many on this list will not even come close.

I don't think Sheff, Manny or Pudge belong on the "stone cold locks" list...

2 quickies I disagree with:

1)Omar Vizquel is a lock for the HOF? He is a career .274 hitter and only made 3 all star games

2) I am a huge Yankee fan and Bernie Baeball fan, but I doubt he will make it into Cooperstown. Great team player but not the stat guy that usually makes it into the HOF.

Let's be honest here, not all of your locks are getting into the HOF. I hope Vizquel will get in, but doubt he will. I think both Bagwell and Biggio will struggle to get in. Bernie Williams won't even sniff the Hall. Thome and Hoffman will struggle and I think both fail to get in if they stopped playing now.

Only one of those that I would even think about removing is PUDGE. Shef and Manny will be well over 500 homers by the time its over. Even if they dont do that I still think they are in.

HOFFMAN will soon be the all-time saves leader. Biggio making a strong run for 3000 hits.

Biggio, B Williams will NOT get in. Kent, Thome and Vizquel are 50/50.

Off your stone-cold locks, Ortiz needs 4+ more years to do it. Franco, no way, Helton 50/50, will be hard because of the ballpark. Edmonds, Glaus, Lee and Giambi no.

The all-time numbers will have to be bumped up since every 450+HR person and 2500+person is not HOF worthy.

I like Trever Hoffman, but is he more deserving than Goose Gossage? No way in my book. Lee Smith is the all-time saves leader and I don't think he is HOF worthy.

JULIO FRANCO???????????????? I just saw this. Franco won't get 3000 hits, has less than a .300 average, less than 200 HR's, and under 1200 RBI's. How the hell is that HOF worthy?

Nobody is ever going to talk me out of Hoffman. Simply the most consistant closer in the history of baseball outside of Rivera. He has never had a bad season.

If their careers ended TODAY?!?

JEFF BAGWELL
CRAIG BIGGIO
FRANK THOMAS
GARRY SHEFFIELD
BERNIE WILLIAMS
ANDREW JONES
OMAR VIZQUEL
TREVOR HOFFMAN
PUDGE RODRIQUZ
JIM THOME

None of those guys are locks by any stretch of the imagination. I'd say Biggio has a better chance than Bagwell at this point, especially with the dearth of 1Bs who have great numbers. Pudge probably has a good shot simply because there aren't a lot of great catchers with the #'s he's put up or that were as good defensively.

All of those guys need to do more to get in, IMO. A magical October run could do it.

This is the most ridiculous list possibly ever.

I have injured myself laughing.

According to Choptalk, EVERYONE has hall of fame potential! I have hall of fame potential!

Get back to me when they enshrine Pete Rose...until then, the HOF is a joke!

But it would be a bigger joke with him in it. Ask his Reds teammates.
