Will be slowing down the baseball substantially now that the World Cup starts this week and I have devoted more time to my soccer preparations. That and the fact that I can't make Eddings keep a game UNDER anymore anyways that had ALL SIGNS of under going in.

Did a few things well yesterday but lose that one and two other UNDERS in extra innings that I had won and it adds up to more consternation considering I was staring at 7-0 for a good long while. Lose 1547 and now at 100-134-5 and down 10718 in the bases.

Small card today.

Going with the two teams out west who were there yesterday against the two teams who flew out after their extra-inning game at Shea yesterday. Three games each for the Mets and Giants in a 24-hour span. Tired legs, tired arms and the last time Frisco flew from west to Miami, they were slugging and didn't do anything offensively (there is six hours difference, yes, but the Miami flight was just last week).

Now, onto other reasons to like the Dodgers and Fish:

LOS ANGELES - The Mets go with a rookie starter against the highest-scoring offense in the league, in Los Angeles. Cuban Alay Soler will log his third start of his career. In the first inning of his two starts, Soler has given up 2 hits but has been tagged for 5 walks and 5 runs. In his last outing, he gave up seven runs and eight hits over five innings in a 7-2 loss to Arizona. Tomko has lost his last two starts and appears to be in a funk but the tired Met lineup in the heavy LA air could be his fix. The Dodgers are laying the small number tonight.

The play: LA minus 120 - 720 to win 600

FLORIDA - Playing their best ball of the season. Beat COL three straight on the road and never trailed the whole weekend. They've won 9 of 12 and pitchers have been better (2.83 ERA this stretch). Florida beat SFO 2 of 3 at home before that. Florida starter Brian Moehler beat Noah Lowry of the Giants in this matchup last week. Moehler has been part of the Marlin resurgence, going 3-0 with a 2.96 ERA over his last four outings. He gave up two runs and six hits over six innings in last Tuesday's win.

The play: Florida plus 160 - 600 to win 960

Fairchild the UMP in Baltimore. Common sense dictates a play, given that BAL has gone OVER. EVEN though his strike percentage is 62.90, which would not qualify, he is 5-0 OVER with 12.20 runs scored per game this season. Small data though, he was just 5-6 the last three years before 2006. But considering TOR and BAL combined 36-15 home/away OVERS (24-8 combined at night; BAL alone is 13-4 in Home night overs, 23-8 overall overs) .... it's worth a stab. Matter of fact, I'm surprised Wire isn't on this one, seeing that he can prolly get it down to 9.5. Let's see if I can't break this guy's good run too, lol...

The play: BAL OVER 10.5 -101 - 505 to win 500

Lean to Boston but the number got away from me. Can't take a dime in a game I coulda took 20 cents on this morning. If it goes back up where I can at least get 116 or 117 I'll nibble.
