I have been playing alot of tournaments online and in between them I have been kicking ass playing 1 on 1. Here is my strategy in a nutshell.

I play .25/.50 and .50/1.00 NO LIMIT.

I will start with like $50. I will play normally until I think I have the nutz and then I will go all in. My all in might be for $10 or even $400. I almost always get a fold and then I will chuckle a bit (chatting) and sometimes say bluffed ya. There will be times when your opponent gets pissed off or has a decent hand like top pair ace kicker or top 2 pair. This is where I make my bread. In the past 2 weeks I have made over 2k playing this way. Some players will not fall for it, but even the good ones sometimes do eventually. Remember there are plenty of fish out there and sometimes they will reload 3 or 4 times while on tilt.

I have many other strategies that I will share at a later time. I am a very good tournament player and have seemed to make money consistently for the past 2.5 years. The chat feature is my best weapon.

I've been banned from chat at PP and Pokerstars. Apparently some people don't share the same sense of humor that I have. Gay.

I have finally become a pretty good HOLD EM NO LIMIT player..........took me twenty years, but I have arrived.

God bless the internet and all the newbies to this game............it finally gave me a fighting chance.

The surprising thing is that people, for some strange reason, don't like to hear about me touching my penis or respond well to my offers for anal sex during or after hands. I always thought I was a people person...maybe I've been mistaken all these years.

This strategy is pretty weak and very exploitable, although there obviously aren't a lot of good players at the levels you are talking about.

The strategy works great if you get the nuts a lot, unfortunately that's not usually the case. Headsup you have to play a lot of hands, and pick up a lot of pots as you aren't going to get called often enough.

I rarely get called on my all ins, but when I do it is for big money. This strategy works well at lower limits as the players are awful. I risk very little anyway. I did just lose $78 with an ace high flush to a straight flush though. Do some poking around and try it out.

I think heads up is the hardest poker to play

It's the most exhausting type of poker to play, as you are generally playing EVERY hand....whereas at a full handed table a tight player is only playing around 25% of their hands.

good post. ive been kicking 1 on 1's ass. honestly hitting about 80%

pretty much doing the following:

1st i frustrate the guy. take your sweet time making eveyr decision. it takes patience to do this. call, fold, check, raise when your timer beeps its first time. this does 3 things:
1. keeps your speed of betting, folding, checking the same, reducing tells from your end...players are more observant heads up, they only have to track one person, not a whole table....
2. it frustrates the hell out of the guy. he'll get impatient and start making big stupid chances to try to end it.........
3. it lets that guy know you are like mr. miyogi on the other end, focused, patient, deliberate, thinking every single move..its not some rash of emotion causing you to raise, it gets him scared thinking you might have a read on him, that it took you 6 seconds to fold, 6 seconds to call, nothing rash, every move was thought out.

RAISE PREFLOP! RAISE PREFLOP! RAISE PREFLOP! typically with poor/marginal hands in the early going....ultra, ultra aggressive early going to set the tone that you are in control of the table...slow play larger hands, or small preflop raises with monster hands, build the pots up, they will start calling out of frustration like "i cant let him push me around" dont fall into a pattern of always slow playing large hands, etc. mix it up. you cant be predictable or give away tells.

if he raises you preflop early, especially after you limp, you call with anything. let him know if he does the same to you, you will always be calling. this sets the tone for you to limp in later in the game when the pots/blinds are bigger, and he'll be scared to raise you preflop, knowing that you call, unless he has a good hand. then you know to fold.

let the guy get frutsrated a little bit. half the people will start folding their blinds preflop without even calling or raising. they get intimidated....eventually they realize their chips are going down and if they keep playing like a puss, they are going to run out. so now i switch my playing style to tight, waiting for the nuts, waiting for the guy to be aggressive back at me and start bluffing me, and when he makes his mistake re-raise or all-in when i show "fake" weakness, i pounce on him and end it.

it doesnt take much of a bet to make people fold heads up, about 50% of the pot. if they check im betting 50% of the pot regardless of what i have, the nuts or crap early in the game.

later in the game: you tighten up your play (your opponent doesnt know youve tightened up, he still remembers the ultra aggressive guy), then i set my traps.

when you play this way you have to be careful for him setting traps. limping on the button, waiting for your re-raise. check raising, etc. you'll know you are probably beat. you dont have to reraise much heads up, dont make an insignificant pot a sgnificant one, and NEVER bluff all in or go all-in unless you have something SOLID.

if you are getting frustrated by a guy like wvu talking crap, you shouldnt be playing poker at all because patience is one of the key virtues to a poker play and even a sports gambler.

overall, 1 on 1 is strictly about patience. most people start trying to play really fast and they cant take it, and they just want it to end, and they start giving away all sorts of tells with the speed and size of their bets/checks. take advantage of these.
