if you like the oilers series/tonite yesterday was the day to buy... but how can this be? I would have thought everyone and their great aunties would have been on carolina?

will the price on the oilers get better by daytime?

Had the linesmaker exagerated the spread & sharps swooped in for value?

what is the story here?

Yesterday at this time Pinny had Carolina for the game -175, now -173.

Total has gone from under 6 +109 to under 6 -101.

Don't know about the series.

Remember what happened with Anaheim when Giguere went down? Teams have a way of rallying around the goaltender when these things happen.

the under at +107 is still available at OHEV, however, if you like the under, I like the UNDER 6 -107 currently available at Pinnacle for 60 minutes only... feel there is a good chance of a 3-3 tie....

The extreme dropoff from outstanding netminder to rusty also rans already made the difference with unintentional empty net winner. I liked the Oilers before, now, I just do not see anyone rallying behind goalie's that got booed by their own fans. That just gave up a game. Edmonton played a lot better defense with stud goal behind them. Now they have to clamp down early, and play out high. The entire team must change it's style, and down 1 game in the Stanley Cup Finals is a extremely bad time to change up. Even the communication between defensemen and goalie is bad. You don't scrape off months of rust in between games one and two. This could get ugly. Unders are also shot now. One of the worst key injuries I can remember this late in the playoffs. Goalies hardly ever get injured.

I honestly cannot answer that. I was sitting on the sidelines, hoping Carolina would win and then take adjusted series line with Ed. But best goalie in playoffs out and his replacements got no minutes for a reason, changes all of that. My thinking is they adjusted the series too high and somebody thinks there is now value, but not to me now.

It could be due to the fact that Canadians are more likely to bet on Hockey than Americans, so perhaps more money is causing the movement, not necessarrilly sharp money.........

Although I agree with your assessment, I hope for the love of god you are wrong.....

Looking at Live Lines i'd say money is about even either way,
though money is coming in on the under. But line movement
in a certain direction does not necessarily mean more money
coming that way. But maybe you are speaking of the series.

Well back to 1.75 again. I would buy the Canadian factor to a point, but just for a small factor, the groups still have the money to move the line. Maybe they think the old rally behind the backup scrub goalie, and sing O' Canada. Both backups are backups, and neither look like starting goalies, regular season. Now in the Cup Finals? I heard practice and shootaround they are pad savers because they never get a glove or stick on the puck. They try to get in front, but that only stops so many shots. I think besides being below average goalies, the rust, extensive time off kills them. From reflexes to basic plays and communication. That inexcusable empty netter was a routine play, and the defenseman was waiting for the puck. Inactivity and rust. Should be great game but I must attend daughter's HS graduation and dinner afterwards. Sometimes the Cup is all about timing, luck and a hot goaltender. Carolina has hit a triple there.

If memory serves me correctly, Conklin stopped the puck behind the net before Jason Smith even got there. Then Smith decided to come right behind Conklin, thereby nullifying any chance he would have to backhand the puck behind him. Smith should be getting more of the blame on this one than Conklin.

It's amazing how the change in goalies is giving the Oilers a free pass on being quitters. This whole thing is going to be like the asterisk the Oilers need if they don't find themselves. One tough loss isn't the end of a series unless you let it be.

Not that I am mad at the Oilers (no wagers on them), but the way they looked tonight I can already hear the excuses once the series is over. Very weak on their part. How many players get a shot at playing for a Cup? If you let an injury be your excuse for not making a 110% effort that is sad.

I can see why they would rollover. You are only as good as your goalie. A great goalie gives you a much better defense, same as a shot blocker behind you in the NBA. You can take more risks knowing you have someone you can count on behind you. Now Edmonton has to play perfect defense just to allow less shots. Change of venue? Less value than lost goalie. I cannot think of any sport, any position that the teams counts on more than a goalie in hockey.

Body language is a don't lie tell. You can't fake enthusiasm or confidence.

Of course it matters, but quitting in the finals is ridiculous and reflects on the coaches and the spirit of the players. If they lose giving a full effort fine, nothing wrong with that. But to just look like they are packing it in because of one injury is still lousy on them.
