All I say is just watch some of the games over the next month. I am not a huge soccer fan really...I probably wouldn't watch an MLS game, but I tune in for the U.S. national team and international soccer because you see the best players in the world playing for their country. You will see soccer at the highest level and that usually makes for entertaining games. Yes, there will be boring games sometimes...but surprise... we see "boring" games in just about every sport from time to time. The athleticism and skill you will see will be amazing. If you appreciate a good pass in basketball or hockey you will see some great passes and finishes during the World Cup. Just give it a shot and hey, if you lay some wagers it may at least make it more interesting even if you really don't like soccer. I for one will be watching. Good luck to our U.S. team!!!:103631605

I really cant watch a soccer game though. I just cant.

See today there will be a college baseball game on (Coll of Charleston at Georgia Tech) and a World Cup soccer game (Germany vs Costa Rica)

Guess which one I will be watching. It's just me.

I rather get drunk at this time then watch people kick a soccer ball around.

No joke. It's nothing like baseball, football, basketball or even hockey. You go down 2-0 and there's a 99% chance you lose. So game over. That's all she wrote. There is no way you're coming back from a 2 goal deficit in soccer.

Watch a 0-0 or 1-0 game? Get more scoring from Bob Dole before he pops the little blue pill. I have soccer right there with submarine races, snowflake counting and inviting a Jehovah's Witness into my home. No entertainment value whatsoever. I think if you are suffering from insomnia, you could watch a few minutes, but if you watched an entire game, well, that is like a bottle of sleeping pills, into the coma you go.

Why is it that soccer fanatics are so hellbent on trying to push the sport on the masses? Give it up already, it aint gonna work!!!! I can care less what others think of football, basketball, baseball, ect. Yet the typical soccer fan finds it necessary to try to convince the rest of America we're all missing something special. WRONG!! Just short of 18 years ago, I wrote a story in which local soccer fanatics promised the sport would take over America by the year 2000. Guess what....2000 has come and gone, and soccer isn't any more popular now than it was then. The ones who are soccer fans are true fanatics, I will say that much. However, they're loyalty to the sport blinds them from the real truth -- the VAST majority of the nation can care less about the sport.

They only defend soccer when people come out of the bushes before and during the World Cup who says "Soccer sucks. Most boring sport ever..blah blah." It's ONLY around World Cup time.

I don't think soccer fans say "WATCH SOCCER. You're missing out!" It's just when people say they'll fall asleep watching soccer or that Bob Dole gets more action.

Soccer fans are just excited because this is the Super Bowl of soccer that comes only once every four years.

If you are a typical North American sports I concede you won't really be entertained by most games.

I would tune into Brazil's games though, you will get some satisfaction from those.

People want to see scoring, even the stiff NHL opened the game up and it helped way more than anyone even hoped. For decades now I have the soccer fanatics telling me it will takeover the US. Well, I see lots of little kids playing it, so maybe their generation will appreciate it more. I don't. I think it is boring, and it sucks. I am entitled to that opinion. I happen to like basketball. But I don't travel the world trying to convert others to see it my way. You like your sport, it bores the hell out of me. Sorry. And you can keep the Watchtower and Awake magazines. Church of Sciencetology?

I think the main reason why "soccer fanatics" try to convince you the game is great is because many Americans go out of their way to send the opposite message claiming the game is boring just because there isn't enough scoring. A game can't be popular in the US without it having a million statistics for each player.

Any sport that cannot have a fantasy league isn't going to fly in the US. lol.

That's just it IMO...90% of kids in the US play it now and ahve for about 10 years which is why our teams are getting consistently better and the appreciation of the game can only increase.

I could care less what you do with your next 30 afternoons, I'm simply stated that I felt sorry for you that you won't get any enjoyment out of what I THINK (personally) is the best 30 days in the last four years.

The same fans who find soccer boring like to watch a car drive around an oval track for 3-4 hours.
