After reading about someone doing this in the local paper it made me think why more people don't do this (including myself)? For someone reason it seems, oh I can't think of the word. But probably something I should do.

I think you should be able to sell them before you die, like a kidney, bone marrow, etc., like blood is sold in LV.

Many people just don't like to think or talk about the death issue. Many also feel uncomfortable that their organs would be passed around to different people...and frankly just another morbid thing(or religious beliefs) to think about rather than think of the positive or the unbelivable joy, happiness and live it can bring to the sick or injured. Like NIKE Commercials, JUST DO IT!!

just get the 'organ donor' designation on your driver's license (if available). I have it. That way in case of fatal wreck they can ship my parts directly to the hospital for removal and distribution.

If being an organ donor makes you dizzy, consider those that donate their bodies to be used by medical schools. They have new med students cutting your skulls in half, dissecting every part of your body, and who knows what else!

I dont want my parts to end up in some idiots body.

I am far too great of a person to do that.

Yes I am an organ donar. In GA, your DL costs $8 less if you are an organ donar. :thumbsup2:

hypothetically, whalewager, if your vital organ didn't go to an "idiot" but instead a great person who would later in life go on to do great things for human civilization, would you permit it then?

I can't bring myself to do it either....I know it's the right thing to do, I just can't stand the idea of being hacked apart like that.

If there is a clause that my body part receiver had a genius IQ or was a superior athlete, then yes i will.

Otherwise, no

Methinks corpses don't mind being "hacked apart". But I do understand that many people have a negative feeling about what happens to their bodies, even though at the moment of death (when we blink out of existence) the point becomes moot.

my question to you is - are you a genius? Have you made some great impact with your life?

On another note, my Dad had a coronea transplant. Donating organs in my opinion is a good thing. You never know when youre going to need one.

Sometimes the donor's family gets screwed with charges for making the donation.

My dad has been alive for the last 10 years on a donated heart. I changed to be an organ donor since that time. Good thing to do.

ABSOLUTELY

my thought is if my death can help countless other people live a productive life - when their death might be imminent - why not

i am dead and will be cremated so why not have my death help other people live because if i needed an organ and someone died and passed it on to me i'd be eternally grateful
