Decent day ruined yesterday by explosions in Frisco and the desert. Ended up 6-3 and up 3725 for the day though, one of my better days of the last couple of months, along with the soccer winnings. Now at 113-149-5 and down 8823 on the season.
Only one stands out for now, going with the Dominican drug lord today against the downtrodden Rockies.
Washington went to Denver and battered Colorado around to the tune of 33-4 last August the last time they played this team. The Rockies gave up 2 in the ninth to lose to LA in the finale of their homestand yesterday and are not doing the little things that garnered them wins earlier in the season. Rockies are now 5-13 their last 18 games and go with Francis today. The lefty won his last start but is winless on the road this season. In his last three starts away from Coors Field, Francis has been pounded for 13 runs and 17 hits in 17 2/3 innings.
Meanwhile, the Senators continue to play their best ball of the season, much like they did last June. Ortiz is a big reason why they are winning more games and with Guillen's bat back in the lineup, suddenly Washington is a team that can hit up and down the lineup. With a 6-0 defeat of Philadelphia on Sunday, Washington took three of four from the Phillies and has won 14 of 19 overall.
The drug lord has now won five straight starts after outdueling Smoltzie last time. Since losing to Atlanta on May 12, Ortiz has allowed 13 runs with 25 strikeouts and just seven walks in 32 1/3 innings. He limited the Braves to two runs and six hits over 6 2-3 innings Wednesday in the Nationals' 5-2 win. Ortiz has worked at least five innings in all 12 of his starts this season, and is 3-0 with a 4.29 ERA in his career against the Rockies.
The play: Washington -121 - 847 to win 700
Washington -1.5 runs plus 180 - 500 to win 900
That's all for now... Could add the Royals later if (WHEN) the price goes up. Keppel has given them four solid performances. He took a shutout into the ninth before his pen blew a 2-0 lead against Texas. Assuming he doesn't letdown too much after that, he's more than capable against Anaheim.
