Using multiple books, would this help?

I'm preparing for the upcoming football season where I usually lose my butt. But anyway, I have a question about using multiple sportsbooks.

Is there a service where I could see all my bets at different books all in one place? I think there is some arb software that can do it for like $150 a month, but I don't really want it that bad.

I guess for that to be possible, I'd have to give some program/web script or whatever my username and password to each sportsbook. At most books I play, you can withdraw money with that info, so that wouldn't be a problem would it?

I'd pay $5-10 a month for a service that could track all my bets, balances, wins/losses, etc for different books. It gets to be a pain logging into 5 different books trying to track everything.

Anyone else feel this way?

Is there already a service for this?

I understand it is a pain to type passwords and usernames into books, especially when logging in and out many times a day. Maybe a password manager would help? I have one. All you have to remember is one masterpassword that unlocks the password manager database on your harddrive. After you have your manager open and running just clickity click and you have your username and passwords copied to your computer's clipboard and you can "paste" them as needed.

I would be -very- wary of letting anyone have a password or username to a sportsbook account. As you mentioned, that info is all that is needed to withdraw your money! Do you really want to trust a third party with that valuable informantion? Hopefully not!

As far as keeping track of your bets goes, well, how about a doing it yourself? A spreadsheet, a word processing document, or even a simple text file would work fine. And if you don't like the idea of having to maintain such files, have you considered that it is really not that that difficult to copy and paste your sportsbook's betting history info to these types of files?

Really, if you live in the US, keeping an accurate betting log is a very wise thing to do. If the unfortunate event occurs that you ever find yourself sitting across the table from an IRS agent your betting log will serve as evidence that your income is in fact derived from offshore gambling activity and not because you are doing something illegal. As fucked as it is, the burden of proof is on the tax payer to show he is not a criminal!

And please forgive me if I am talking (typing) too much, but I don't know about you, but I am very interested in keeping very accurate records of my bets. I have spreadsheets with graphs and other data analysis that no service or third party needs to see, or even would offer to track. Well, best of luck to you. Final suggestion: look into using a password manager on your desktop and keep track of the data yourself (it's not that much work!)

I ment to say "can't" withdraw my money with just a username and password.

I know several sites require an additional "pin number" to actually withdraw money.

I'll look into the password manager.

I guess I'm one of the "not scared of the internet" types. I've never really been burned, so I'm probably a little too trust worthy. I really wouldn't fear a third party taking my money if it was a respected site.

I came up with a pretty cool system to track all my plays. I call it the "pencil and paper" system. What you need is a one of those long yellow writing instruments that you can pick up at any drug store. These instruments usually come equipped with a roundish pink top that allows one to make changes after entries have already been made.

And rather than having your bet recording sheets scattered all over the place, I have found these really cool booklets that contain hundreds of betting sheets that can be used and stored for later reference. The clerk at the drug store told me theya re called "notebooks", or something like that. Anyway, I think my system saves a lot of time (no cutting and pasting) and unless my house burns to the ground, the risk of losing this precious data is extremely remote. Go on and give it a try.....total dollar investment for such a system is only about a buck and a half.

Wagerstation is less than $150 if you don't get the ARB feature.

Yeah Steeser is right ... Wagerstation wager tracking/ sportsbook management is $20 per month.

If you just want simple wager tracking just use Excel with some macros and your set :)

$20 a month isn't too bad.

Do you have to give them your usernames and passwords? I'd assume so. I'm not real worried about it, but just wondering.

It says on their site that there is a way to do it without them having your username and password. Not sure how that could work.

Not sure if I completely understand the question but no you do not have to give them any of your sportsbook usernames and passwords ... they have a little system within Wagerstation called the ID vault that is an optional system for you to keep all your usernames etc... but you dont have to use it if you dont want to from what i can tell ... I use it to keep track of my ids' but that just because i have the memory of a goldfish :)

Hope that helps

so does WS not actually keep real time track of your bets and account balance at each site? Meaning the software goes out to each site and retrieves your info for you.

Sorry for the stupid questions, I just don't understand how it works.

I thought it will tell you:

Acct balances:
Sportsbook.com $800
BetJamica $645
etc, etc

Automatically updating those amounts based on your action placed at each site.

How can it do that if it (wagerstation) can't log into your account?

Maybe I'm completely wrong on what I thought it does.

No it doesnt do that from what I know of the system... here the base level of how I set things up ... you start by putting your sportsbook accounts in ... so you would set up an account called 'pinnacle' and you tell it you have $800 and then you set up a BetJ account and tell WStation it has $500 and so on ... then when you track wagers in the system it debts or credits your balances as per your wagering activity .. tells you what you have in action etc...

But you have to tell the system you have placed a bet, the amount and with which book ... it doesnt go an look at your pinnacle account and see what you have wagered although that would be nice :)

Its like the Microsoft Money program I use to track my stocks ... I have to tell the system what stocks I own and what other investments I have etc..

Did I make any sense? Other wagerstation users .... thats correct right?

Thanks orbit, that makes sense.

But hell, I can do that in excel.

I was hoping for a software that could retrieve all the info for me.

Someone mentioned encrypted (sp?) technology. I thought that was because data (like passwords and such) was coming back and forth over the net.

kksuited, I think the software you are looking for does not exist as a service or for purchase. But that does not mean it is impossible (or even that difficult in the hands of the right software programmer) to create. All you need is a program that will log into your books, retrieve the most recent betting history data, and format it nice and neat for you on your desktop.

Of course, unless you are experienced in programming, creating such a thing from scratch will prove to be laborious to say the least. I'm a hobbyist programmer and have written (in the process of writing, actually) a similar program, but what we're talking about is still over my head. If I were in your position I'd just keep plugging along and eventually figure it out and write the code myself unless I really needed is ASAP in which case I'd look at one of the "rent a coder" sites where you can contract a super cheap coder from a third-world country to write it for you. good luck with it whatever you choose to do.

Yeah excel is definetly solid and I use it for other 'analysis' type of things and is also well suited to tracking your balances etc... I like using wagerstation cuz i make a large number of wagers per day and do occasionally scalp ;) and it allows me to track all the crap nice and neatly

But there are some guys who have some pretty nice excel spreadsheets that they can email you ... check the Newbie forum or make a search for excel and you should be able to find those dudes ...

Thanks guys.

I'm going to do 2 things.

1) look for that excel sheet you guys are talking about

and

2) talk to some programmers about getting what I need done. I have several different websites already (none sports betting related) and I know some programmers (I can't do any of it myself). I know they can do what I need, but I'll have to see how much it would cost.

Do you think a lot of people could use what I'm talking about? I'm a little surprised there's not one of these already.
