NY Mets +1.06 over PHILADELPHIA (1:05 PM)<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
See no reason whatsoever not to come right back on the sizzling Mets against this ice-cold host. The Mets have now won seven in a row and have scored 64 runs over that stretch. They made crossing the plate nine times last night against Brett Myers look easy. The Mets have a bounce in their step while the Phillies look flatter than three-day-old Ginger Ale. There’s a reason why Cory Lidle has pitched for seven different teams in nine seasons. He’s never impressed anyone and nobody wants to give him more than a one-year deal. His numbers this year are respectable but perhaps a bit misleading too. The opposition is hitting .290 against him at Great American Ballpark and the opposition he’ll face is steaming hot at the plate. Steve Trachsel goes for the Mets and while we prefer someone else, Trachsel is Lidle’s equal for sure and this wager has very little to do with that. This choice is all about taking back a price on the Mets because we can’t find one single reason to pass it up but can find about 100 reasons to pass on the Phillies. Play: NY Mets +1.06 (Risking 1.5 units).

Baltimore +1.13 over TORONTO (12:35)
We’ve maintained all year that Daniel Cabrera of the Orioles has about the nastiest stuff in the majors and it might not be close. This guy can get hitters to swing at balls that bounce four feet in front of home plate and he does it often. If he can avoid walking batters he’s nearly impossible to beat and even if he walks a few he’s still tough to beat. Cabrera has won four straight decisions and hasn’t allowed an earned run in is past 11 innings since returning from a stint on the DL. Ted Lilly is one of those hit and miss pitchers that you really never know what your going to get from him. He’s very capable of throwing a gem and he’s just as capable of an early exit and that’s why Lilly is a much better play in the underdog role. Anyway, when a price is offered on Daniel Cabrera it’s a no-brainer endorsement, just take it, especially when it’s not against the opposition’s ace. Play: Baltimore +1.13 (Risking 1.5 units).
