According to the Associated Press, USC's Dwayne Jarrett was declared ineligible by the NCAA for not playing enough rent when he roomed with Matt Leinart last season. The NCAA could reinstate him if he pays back what he owes.
The AP says Leinart's old man put the two players on a lease at a secured apartment complex in downtown LA after Leinart was being hounded by fans at his old place.
Here's the kicker: the stoy says Leinart and Jarrett each paid $650 a month with Leinart's old man paying $2,566--the difference in the monthly payment.
These guys were living in an apartment that charged $3,866 rent a month??!! That's more than $45,000 a year. Christ, buy them a house, it would have been cheaper.

Rent in Southern California is incredibly expensive (depending on the area obviously).

Easily the market price. Could be much higher depending on the location.

Downtown luxury apartments are. They aren't standard rents though, you can get decent 2 bedroom apartments for $1500.

I guess you've never been in the Metro DC area? It can get pretty pricey out this way too.

You're right. In order to get anything reasonable you have to move in the Exburbs.

Ridiculous home prices arent limited to the So Cal area.

Play the part all you want guys, those #'s are very accurate.

You can find a nice 1BR apartment in Glendale for $850-$1000 and
Glendale is one of the safest cities in the state.

Thank You.

Irvine is inflated though. Other parts of OC will cost between $1200 - $1800 for a 2-bedroom apartment.

True, Irvine is inflated....especially properties owned by IAC.

But still, I would say 1,200-1,400 is average for a 'decent' 1 bedroomin in inland OC (Orange, Anaheim, Brea, Fullerton, etc.).

And even that may or may not get you garage/storage, central air, in unit washer/dryer etc.

Point is....3-4k for a 2 bedroom is very doable in SoCal. Especially at the beach.

So you want to live in Newport?

PLAN E6 - 2 Bedrooms 2 Bath
With Loft
1425 Square Feet
*Starting from: $3,715

Really? We pay $900 a month for a 2Bedroom in Glendale.
My brother has a 1BR apt in Huntington Beach and he pays
$1100.

I know L.A. I have lived here my whole life, the numbers I mentioned
are accurate.

This chick I know lives in East L.A by Soto and Chavez and she
pays $450 a month.

Numbers were extremely accurate, Irvine is very inflated.
