If I were a baseball GM, my team would win it all with 80 Million or less.

Why do these GMs spend 18 million bucks on a first baseman or an outfielder when they could use that entire 18 million on stocking the best bullpen you can get on that 18 million?

For 7 million you can get a very good closer.
With the other 11 million you can buy the best middle, long and setup relief money can buy.

The bullpen wins/loses more games than any other unit in the game of baseball.

Since this is the case, how come some of these teams treat the pen like an afterthought.

A great bullpen from top to bottem will when you more games than Babe Ruth in his prime and you can buy an entire pen for the cost of one stud outfielder. I dont get it.

Show me a team with a great bullpen and I will show you a playoff contender everytime.

I will take a great top to bottom bullpen over Albert Pujois any day of the week.

Very true I remember in 2001 the key to the Mariners team winning 116 was not only timely hitting, but unreal bullpen. That year they sent Nelson, Rhodes and Sasaki to the All Star game. Those guys were all practically automatic that year. Bullpen play is heavily underestimated by these stupid GM's these days.

You want to know why the Royals are the worst team in baseball history?

Its because they have an awful pen.

The Braves have the same problem.

Nothing worse than always wondering if you hold on to a lead late. It effects the entire game. Not just the 7th, 8th and 9th.
