If Sandy Koufax was in his prime pitching tommorow for KC, what would the line be?

Jun-18 969 KAN DUCKWORTH -R +210 o9 -110
2:05 PM 970 HOU A PETTITTE -L -230

Put Koufax in the place of Duckworth in his prime and everything else being 100% equal. Some exact team, same exact bullpen, same everything except for Koufax.

What do you think the line would be?

Heres part 2 of the question.

With the same exact pitching matchup as above, Add Pujois at first base, and Willie Mays in the outfield. Add both of those players to the Royals, not just one of them both of them with DUCKWORTH/PETTITTE. What would the line be then?

Perhaps if there was a thread entitled, "tell us your age", i wouldnt have had to ask. seeing that there is not, i was left to ask you in a thread where such a question would be off topic.
based soley on your replies im guessing under 25.

BOL

watch some tapes of koufax and then give me a new line.

ah, thank u.

i was made to believe u were much younger. you're a wild personality none the less, but pleased to know i was not having any sort of a back and forth with a 20 year old.

BOL to you.

my line would be
KC -210

im playing KC today, i would certainly hammer them with sandy on the hill. sandy could go 13 innings if you wanted. no fear of the KC pen.
hell, a guy like Johnson would throw both games of a double header. different times.

It would be no different than the lines that were hung on Clemens last year. He was awesome, but Houston didn't score in 9 games he started.

I had a very good reason for this post.

Trying to confirm that 70% of baseball capping is the pitching position.

If most agree that the ROYALS would go from +220 to almost a favorite just on a pitching change, maybe it pitching is that important.

DONT YOU THINK?

i really dont think pitching is 70% here just my opinion as we each cap our own way but pitching is not as big now as say back in the 80's or 90's imo..ck

it's not Pujols and mays. It's the ENTIRE team offense, not one guy but one offensive team versus another, not 1 or 2 players.

I'd take Koufax even as a favorite. I remember seeing him pitch, and the Dodgers didn't get him many runs. Heck, with a pitching rotation of Koufax, Drysdale, Podres, and a kid named Sutton they didn't need to score much. KC defense isn't nearly as good, but their run support may even be better. Give me KC/Koufax up to -140 at least.

Found this:

After the ’63 World Series, in which Sandy Koufax beat Whitey Ford twice in five days as the Dodgers swept the Yankees, Yogi Berra said, "I can see how he won 25 games. What I don't understand is how he lost five."

In that ’63 season, Sandy was 25-5, with 11 shutouts and a 1.88 ERA.

Who cares if KC is crap; how good you gotta be behind a 1.88 ERA.

If I could get KC at even money with Koufax on the mound I would unload on them. As one poster mentioned you wouldn't have to worry about the crappy KC bullpen. Most likely Sandy would go 9 innings. Back in the 60's all the TOP pitchers went 9 innings, ALOT. I saw him pitch and there's just three words to describe his stuff. NASTY, NASTIER, AND NASTIEST. I saw a comment just the other day by one of the greats. I forgot who it was, I want to say Willie Stargel. When ask what the best day for him in baseball was he answered the day Sandy Koufax retired. That says it all.

KC +131 is kc had koufax in his prime. Remember, he wouldn't likely go 9 innings. Today's game is much more complex. Almost every pitch requires max effort.
