Morning gentlemen... Another nice Sunday card awaits us today in the bases. Was able to win a peanut yesterday after Oakland got the cash once more. Ended up 3-3 and up 587, coulda been a little better but no complaints, and Eddings cooperated in New York for a nice hit there. Now 128-162-6 and down 7533 for the season.

To today...

Anyone who saw Carp last time in Pittsburgh knows the man is BACK. He blitzed the Pirates to the tune of 13 strikeouts and made a mechanical correction in his delivery that allowed him to get more downward movement on his pitches. He's liable to run off several good starts in the coming weeks. Fogg has been adequate and usually does well working his way out of jams. Great value on the RL here. Looking for 5-0 or 4-1 win for STL today.

The plays: Cards -1.5 runs -102 - 1020 to win 1000
2teams - STL -232 and UNDER 8 plus 105 - 500 to win 966.81

Roy a very fair price in Miami today, firing his third CG of the season Tuesday and now facing the red-hot Fish. Roy is undefeated in his last 11 starts and has also gone 10-1 in starts following a Toronto loss over the last two seasons, the best record over that span for any major league pitcher with at least 10 starts following a defeat. I respect the work Josh Johnson has done but he once again runs into a tough customer on the hill. One of these guys will likely not be at his best and that's a bad ingredient with 9-1 Holbrook calling the game. Laying off side and total straight, but let's try the hook-up.

The play:
2teams - TOR -55, OVER 7.5 -105 - 500.00 to Win 1,105.99 USD

Perhaps 40-year old Glavine is finally hitting a wall after an outstanding start of the season. Perhaps the Mets were due for a rough stretch eventually. Either way, the play in this one is on Baltimore at a lofty price to finish the sweep at Shea. Rookie Loewen is making his fourth career start today and they've all been against former Cy Young winners! His first two starts were no-decisions but he was admittedly nervous about facing Roy last time (second start in a row against him) because he had a lot of friends and family in attendance. Today, he can go back to making his pitches in a normal atmosphere. Glavine has struggled as of late with the long ball. He gave up just five homers in his first 73 innings this season before yielding nine in the last 16 2/3. Let's try the dog again.

THe play: Baltimore plus 220 - 300 to win 660

Garland has struggled for the ChiSox, with an ERA up over 6.00, thanks in large part to his propensity to give up the longball. Not good for a day game in Cincy, where the Reds will not rest a lot of players because they need to figure out how to win again. Cincy has lost five straight against Chicago teams dating back to last weekend, all at home. Harang gets the ball today and should be far more rested after only going five innings last time due to flu-like symptoms. Expect better from him today and the Reds are the play in this short-priced fave role.

The play: Cincinnati -121 - 605 to win 500

McDung + Madson = OVER

THe play: TBY/PHI OVER 11 -111 - 555 to win 500

Going with KC today as well. Duckworth made his first major league start in nearly 14 months Tuesday after he was acquired from Pittsburgh for cash considerations two days earlier. The right-hander pitched well in his Royals debut, allowing two runs and striking out six in 5 2/3 innings, but wound up as a loser to the Angels, 4-1. Three of his six hits allowed came in the first inning. It's easy to think Duckworth wants to stick around the majors this time after being traded to Kansas City, so expect another solid effort today. Pettitte has won consecutive starts for the first time all season but is still just 6-7 with a 5.46 ERA and has no business laying more than 2-to-1 to anyone right now, not even the Royals.

The play: Kansas City plus 217 - 300 to win 651

The Diamondbacks have hit a rough stretch after taking a brief lead in the NL West, having now lost 11 of 12 games and four straight. Still, wrong team favored here. Arizona's Gonzalez helped the Snakes snap a seven-game skid in his last start, allowing just one hit and no runs in seven innings against San Francisco. The Venezuelan is now 2-0 with a 1.64 ERA and he has a good slider and a change-up, two pitches the rookie will need today in steamy Arlington. Meanwhile, Texas counters with Loe, who is 0-2 with a 9.31 ERA in his last four starts. Based on these numbers, how can you NOT be interested in Arizona?

The play: ZOna plus 110 - 500 to win 550

Colon may be the ace of the Angel pitching staff, but he will return to the mound on Sunday for the first time in two months. Colon (0-2, 7.07 ERA) struggled in his first three outings of '06 before a trip to the DL April 19 with right shoulder inflammation. He made three rehab starts in the minors. Colon has thrown only 14 innings in his three major league starts this season. Meanwhile, Park looks to win his third straight decision. He gave up one run and three hits in six innings while beating the Dodgers Tuesday, 9-1. He has been steady, striking out 61 while walking 25 in 82 1/3 innings this season. Park's fastball has good movement and his slider, changeup and curve have been quality secondary pitches. With Colon's early struggles and him making his first start since April, this line is ridiculous.

The play: San Diego plus 140 - 500 to win 700

Oakland. A big reason why I'm making a little move this week. Now won nine straight and I've been aboard all week the A-Train. THey've outscored opponents 51-28 in this span. Blanton has pitched 17 straight scoreless innings at home and Sele has struggled a tad more as of late, finally failing to register a quality start in his last outing.

THe play: Oakland -135 - 675 to win 500

King Hirschbeck the UMP in Seattle. He's calling 64.7 percent strikes, well above club member status. Wright went seven innings last time, losing because he got no run support in a 2-1 loss against the aforementioned Gonzalez and the Snakes. His cutter and fastball have been solid lately and he has been surprisingly consistent as of late. Moyer allowed two runs at Oakland but got no offense against Blanton. The lefty has allowed three runs or fewer in each of his nine starts at Safeco this season, where he is 2-2 with a 2.88 ERA. Strong play here, one I made last night...

The play: SFO/SEA UNDER 8.5 -116 - 1160 to win 1000

Happy Father's Day to everyone out there who qualifies, including my own!!!

Wish I could be back home with pops whacking the golf ball around this morning before watching the final round of The Open...

GL all!
