How do you go about finding a "backroom" card room?

Sure it's worth your while to join one. That is where all of the white collar types go to gamble on things like golf, rummy, dominos, and poker. You will need to make friends though. You should also be able to pick up at least one good local to book your bets.

BTW:

Why aren't you living in Vegas with your lifestyle?

anyone played, or play in their local VFW hall tourneys? See this shit all the time in the paper. They are a 2 day tourney, and I imagine the skill level and drunks in play are a recipe for success.

Those VFW games are too small time for your level of action.

The rake is too high in those VFW games.

I wouldn't survive in Vegas man, I would be dead in 6 months, TOPS.

when I lived in Scottsdale, AZ., I was out there at least 3 times a month. I have since "simmered" down a bit, but I like to have fun, and trying to take every advantage thrown at you, can get quite boring at times.

I may consider moving there if online play is no longer an option, but I can make more sitting here in my undies, than I could frolicking through the desert heat and smoke filled casinos.

The VFW games are a good starting point....

The rake is horrendous, but if you chat it up a bit you will find the higher stakes games in your area.

Live games are awesome...much prefer them to sitting in front of the computer.

Very true, robbing them in Florida as well that I know of, probably everywhere. Another concern is advertising them is a good way to make some vice cops very happy. And please don't tell me they don't pop these "friendly" games, I am speaking from first hand experience. All they need to do is email one of these guys and they are in the game.

In short, any game owner that advertises on the internet is not a game you should be interested in playing in.
