Do all canadians root for any canadian team to win the cup, to beat the U.S. or is this a non issue up there?

Geez its gotten so bad now teams way down in the warm south are winning the Cup.

This is the first year of the 'NEW NHL' with salary cap....

1) in the past Canadian teams coudnt compete due to the extremely low canadian dollar aswell as TAX... alot of that is now changed....

2) Montreal Canadiens pay more in Tax than all USA based teams combined....

3) Most of the Players are Canadian Anyway...

Yes usually Canadians will cheer first and foremost for another Canadian team to win the cup. The only slight expection is Toronto Fans with Ottawa, Calgary fans with Edmonton and vice versa. I could care less who wins the cup after Calgary is knocked out since I figure the bulk of most teams are made up of Canadians anyway.

They're happy now that their Canuck bucks are almost worth as much as ours now.

Oh man , I didn't intend on this being an 'us against them' thread, I was just trying to understand the mentality up there with such a long drought (I assume the longest in the great history of the Cup)

If TAMPA can find a goalie, good chance the CUP will be back in Florida at this time next year.

Damn skippy we do.

I just came back from my local pub. Even non-hockey fans (like me) were rooting for Edmonton.

Of course, though, my money was on Carolina. :>Grin>

Getting off topic here a bit, but since we're a predominantly export nation, the high Canadian dollar (relative to the US) is not a good thing.

In case you all forgot what it looked like the Cup does look a little different since last century when y'all had it, they say "y'all" down in Dixie, Lord Stanley's Cup has grown a bit :103631605
