you can buy a kit on the internet to pretend that you are canadian....
that may be one of the funniest things ive ever seen...reason being: i went to egypt with my mom and aunt about 6 yrs ago (?). it was when the election was, i think it was bush and gore...anyways, everyone was so into us americans and wanted to know what we thought was going on (they did the recount and all) who was gonna win etc. granted it was us women so the egyptian men were always trying to talk to us, but it did get to be a bit much...theyd ask us where we were from "USA" and the questions hit. so we decided we were gonna pretend to be from canada, seeing as we live in buffalo, near canada...well the very 1st time we tell someone was at a blackjack table...this egyptian guy asking us where we are from..."Canada", well dont you know he is from toronto. me and my aunt just about died as i dont know as much about canada and she is actually from north carolina. somehow mom pulled it off. we were american from then on. glad to see there is a kit!!!!!
i thought egypt was very interesting...pyramids are amazing...and just a word of advice, always have some cash cause there arent ATMs at the sightseeing places.
the girls followed me around a bit and tried to touch my hair (was very long and naturally curly). we had a tour guide for the day we went sightseeing on our own and it was great, got a lot of inside info and he helped ward off some of the people who harrass u.
food was way weird and in some of the places where noone spoke english (expected i know) the choice was told to us "chicken, beef or fish" we had no idea how it would come out. always drank bottled water and none of us ever got sick.
u will be ok with a big group i think, it was a bit scary at times with just 3 gals...everyonje drives crazy and there is like 7 lanes of traffic all over in 3 or 4 actual lanes. everyone honks but that is how they communicate. the air is gross and thick, but hey, u have like 95% of the countries population living in about 5% actual space of the country. very interesting and i think i would be too scared to go now...there were military men all over in black outfits with rifles all over the place. i love how cheap the souveniers were!! i could go on and on...
there are kids and ppl in bathrooms waiting to tend to u to try and get some change. at the oldest pyramid Saccara, they had a trailor used as a bathroom and there was no TP in there, the girls gave it to me and then wouldnt let me leave til i gave them some money, and they were not happy...according to my mom, i only had some change that added up to about .4 of a cent, lol. k, ill stop now.
except we did stay at the marriot of cairo and it was a palace in the days of old, so it was beautiful and they did cater to westerners (LOVE IT).
