I do.

People forget that they may have won last season if WADE and SHAQ did not get hurt.

Yes they would have won.
Riley winning this reminds me too much of Brown stealing Carlisle's eventual championship with Detroit.

no way they win it without riley, if you watched the post game interviews Wade basically said the same thing. Detroit would not have won it without Brown either, i firmly believe both.

Take the same squad, the same defense (which Carlisle built) and add an all-star in Rasheed Wallace, my mom could have coached that team and won the championship

Hell no. Van Gundy commanded no respect. He would have had a ton of egos, playing for a Ron Jeremy look-alike with no rings, and nothing to his name.

THey needed a superstar to coach the superstars. This team would have been at each others throats halfway through the year after a few losses. Complaing about Van Gundy. It would have been players bickering in the lockerroom about Van Gundy, and excuses, excuses.

Riley creates an us against them mentality. Its the Heat and their families vs. the world, the media, the refs, the opposition. Everyone is out to get them and they need to stick together. He did a great job.

Hell Shaq was already complaining about Van Gundy last year for not calling any plays to get him the ball late in the game. Riley is a master of motivation and getting those egos to play together. They are supposively a very tight group, and you can tell from their celebration that they were.

No way!! Riley is the man!! He is a proven winner and he looks
cooler than Van Gundy. He knew just what to do with Wade.

No chance. Shaq loves Riley and in turn that motivated the entire team. The bottom line is the Heat played harded for Riley than Van Gundy.

Or how Phil Jackson stole Doug Collins' eventual three to six championships with the Bulls.

Does anyone think Buck showalter would have won all those world series if he was not fired the year before Torre took over?

Heck no he wouldn't have won. I think the players, especially in the playoffs, had confidence when Pat Riley told them what to do. This guy has won championships before and knew what to do. The players respect that.

Stan Van Gundy would have gone down in flames.

each time Dallas went on a run Riley took a timeout and quickly got back into the game. That is the true mark of a great coach. Winning the championship on the road is a very difficult feat especially when you compare their regular season records and head to head matchups during the season.

Take the team that Dumars built, the defense that Carlisle built, add a few pieces and win it one year and lose the next - whoopie - there are MANY coaches who could pull that off - MANY.

you are saying that there are MANY coaches who could take an underdog team and win a championship? I live outside Detroit, so i watched and read a lot of stuff on that team. It is a fact that players have more confidence and respect for certain coaches, thus they will play and try harder.

So? They didn't win the title the last year Brown was there. Brown has coached in the NBA for 20 years, and he has ONE title. Hardly a genius. Law of averages, almost.

Not a chance. Van Gundy not only didn't command respect from his players, but wouldn't have gotten half of the calls Riley had go his way

No way. They were hopeless with that guy. Granted the Heat did not do all that well with Riley the first time around, but once you're in the NBA Finals - Riley is the guy you want in there.
