I'm posting one tonight that will definitely not be there in the morning. I will be shocked beyond all belief and will bet it again if need be. The wrong team is favored in Detroit.

Pujols was a surprise activation Thursday afternoon. I guess Tony was sick of seeing his team get ransacked all over the yard in Comiskey to the tune of 33 runs in 2 days. That won't help their pitching staff but relief is on the way and he's spelled C-A-R-P.

Anyone who saw Carp two starts back in Pittsburgh (think it was Tuesday last week) knows the man is BACK. He was all over the Pirates, striking out 13. He made a mechanical correction in his delivery that allowed him to get more downward movement on his pitches. He followed that up with another dominant performance against the Rockies Sunday at home, displaying all of sick pitches, including a changeup that he's used much more in these last two starts (2-0, 0.64 ERA). Ladies and Gentlemen, your 2005 Cy Young winner is back and I'm pounding him against the Tigers. Verlander is winning with smoke-and-mirrors at this point. He allowed nine hits and three walks despite yielding just one run to the Cubs in 5 2/3 last time out. He's only had one quality start in his last four and they're gonna open him as a favorite??? I'm down for a bet now and if I can get more plus-money tomorrow, I'mma take it then too.

The play: St. Louis plus 102 - 1500 to win 1530

GL all!!!

Wasn't a bad day yesterday but shoulda left the dam Cardinals alone. Anyways, 3-3 and won 250 on the day after that 1-0 shamtrammockery...

Now 146-173-6 and down an even 2000 on the year.

Looks like today sets up to be a great card but every time I say that I get shellacked. So I'll shut up.

Rain could be a factor in all these east coast games but it looks decent in Detroit so my Cards play will likely have action.

Going with the Fishies again tonight. They rallied with four in the ninth and then an improbable at-bat by Cabrera where the pitcher threw an 'eefus' on what was supposed to be an intentional ball. He whacked it slo-pitch softball style to center for the go-ahead run in a game where Timmy and others took a terrible beat on the UNDER (Fish win 8-5, it was 1-1 B8)...

Girardi won 4 WS with Yankees, he was bench coach there LY, got his team playing well, won 11 of 12 and this is Florida's first return to Bronx since they won WS in 2003. Wang is most consistent Yanks starter at the moment but there is enormous value with FLA the way Moehler has pitched lately. Six of last seven starts have been quality and he's gone at least seven innings in five of them. I'll take my chances here.

The play: Florida plus 220 - 500 to win 1100

Beckett and Madson, just seems like an obvious mismatch here. I'll lay the 1.5 for a little better odds (91 cents seems fair enough with the way Boston hits it at Fenway). Think this gets ugly.

The play: Boston -1.5 runs plus 111 - 700 to win 777

Not understanding the price on Mets tonight. Glavine's last 10 starts, they've won them all. He's won eight of them. Janssen is 0-2 with a 17.05 ERA in his last two (12 runs, 19 hits, 6 1/3 IP)... could be hitting some kind of rookie wall??? Enormous value here. Will parlay with OVER if I get a desireable ump.

THe play: Mets -110 - 880 to win 800

Koronka is 1-3 with a 6.63 ERA in his last seven starts; Francis has held opponents to three or fewer runs in nine of his 11 starts. Lean to OVER in this one but won't bet til I see ump. Don't mind laying 1.5 for 89 cent value, expect COL to light up this Koronka.

THe plays: Colorado -120 - 600 to win 500
Col -1.5 runs plus 168 - 300 to win 504

Gimme my daily dose of Oak-town. Schmidt hasn't been the same since he struck out 16 on June 6. Lost 8-1 in Seattle last time and Blanton beat LA last time to win his fourth in five starts.

THe play: Oakland plus 140 - 400 to win 560

That'll do for now, totals later on....
