I know he is great and I no this is a real dumb compairison but when I played highly competitive softball a few years ago we had guys that just showed up for tournaments and most of the teammates resented them even though they were the best players on the team. Something about not being in the daily grind with your teammates that makes me lose respect for him. I have to beleieve that a few players would rather go to battle with guys that care.

I heard a rumor that the games he does not pitch he won't travel with the team, if this is the case than he is put above everyone else on the team and that seems like it would be a slight distraction. I know this kind of crap goes on in today sports and he isn't the first one to do stuff like this but I just wouldn't be happy about it.

I know he brings a ton to the table and is a first ballot HOF'er but just can't get over the fact he is not involved in the day to day aspects of the team. I know he is one of the best but if I had a vote, I would ask Roger " 100%, Are you in or are you out"

He is another Barry Bonds. Although I think he will go down as one of the best pitchers in a long time, to dictate where and when he will play is just not enough for me. What kind of a message does it send to the young players? I had my largest play of the year tonight as I went against Rog. Easy to say after the fact but true.

Hate attention whores in pro sports.

They should be as geniune as Wade as he will go down as an MJ in this era.

The biggest "Big League" thing I've ever seen, outside of Manny Ramirez wearing an mp3 player in left field, is #22 Roger Clemens signing for 22 million, and 22 dollars. $22,000,022

That's absolutely BIG LEAGUE. 4-A shit.

Manny Ramirez wears mp3 players in LF, he brings a water bottle in his back pocket, he doesnt run out routine ground balls.

That's a much bigger disgrace to the game than not traveling with the team so you can spend time with your family. He's 43 years old. He's approaching 50. It's not like hes 26 and hes doing it. He pitches once, he's out on that mound by himself, it doesnt effect their hitting or fielding.

So I can see that side of it.

The other side of it, coming together as a family, breeding a winning attitude, being there for your teammates, etc. Just depends how important that is to you (winning in my mind), and if you really think it effects you or not.

I bet on road trips, they dont even remember that hes gone unless they get reminded somehow. He just sits in the dugout with a jacket on. The occasional high 5. Pre-game he walks around, shoots the shit, signs autographs, gets arm treatment. Not missing a whole bunch.

There's always next year, like in 75, 90-93, 99 &

If he is pitching like he has the last two years I want him absolutely. First the Astros go to the NL championships and then the World Series with the guy.

Also the comparison to Bonds is horrible. Yes Roger is a pre-madonna, but he is a huge asset to young pitchers in every city he has played in.

With that said Manny is great in my book as well which means I have different standards.

Oh yea and O.J. was framed.

Possibly the greatest pitcher in my lifetime considering EVERYTHING he has accomplished.

However, I have very little respect for many things he has done over his carrer that are total bullshit.

I could go on and on, but will not spend the time on this guy.

Clemens is one of the greatest pitchers of all time--no doubt about it.

But...he's like a Stepford Wife or something. Perfect....but terribly wrong as well.

Manny has zero class. he was born to hit a baseball but hes a pure asshole. He has hit as good as Boston hoped when they signed him if not better and they still wanted to release him what does that tell u?

I dont love what Clemens does but he has earned his perks. Hes not some 27 year old hotshot who had one good year and wants the VIP treatment.
It sets a bad precedent but its better than some punk like Lasting Milliege whose been in the majors for a month walking around like he owns Shea Stadium. Hes a showboat, he didnt run a ball out and got thrown out at the plate because of it and when Randolph confronted him about it he said "it didnt cost us the game."Lovely. He was then an hour late to the next game.

Clemens deserves the benefit of the doubt. He works out like a football player and doesnt do anything half ass.

Clemens is a great competitor, and I respect that. But he's far from a great guy. I went to professional umpire school, and Jim Evans read to us from some of his old ejection reports. He once tossed Clemens, and Clemens called him a cocksucker and a motherfucker about 3-4 times, said that he knew where he lived in the winters, (Texas) and that he would come find him. I know that his competitive spirit probably made him say some things he regrets, but it wasn't pretty hearing all the direct quotes. Class is not a word I would use in the same sentence as Roger Clemens.

Obviously you are a RED SOX hater.

No?

I dont hate Manny. I love Manny. But he's classless. Not sure if Manny can disagree with that??

He's the ultimate big leaguer.

Wears mp3 players in the OF.
Brings water bottles in his back pocket.
Doesnt run out groundballs.
Trade demands.
Pimps homeruns worse than any other player.

I like it. Now, I hope everyone doesnt do it. It would be bad for the game. But its cool to have a guy or two that do it.

So you are saying that because a guy calls an ump a cocksucker or mother fucker, he is classless?

Buddy, no one in the majors has class then. Did you ever play sports competitively?

I call people cocksuckers all the time. Mother fuckers too. I would be willing to bet that anyone that you talk to that knows me would say I am total class.

ALERT! anyone that has ever called a person a cocksucker or motherfucker has no class.
