Had my second great day in a row, up well over 9 units after the 8 unit win on Wednesday! Today has produced some REAL nice total plays!! Plays range from 1 to 3 units



1. San Francisco wayyyyy under 7.5 runs -110 3 units

I really like this play among 2 teams that are just not scoring of late. Oaklands last 3 games in Colorado saw them score only 3 runs in one game and get shut out the other 2 games!! When is the last time that Colorado has pitched 2 straight shutouts at home!!

In San Francisco's last 5 games, they have scored 3,3,2,1 and 1 runs. Jason Schmidt is on the hill for SF and he has a era of 2.84 for the year! But in his last 5 starts, he is even better at an era of 2.38. His mound opponent is pitching much better over his last 5 games with a 2.57 era. Blanton for Oakland has pitched 2 shutouts in his last 3 starts. One was a complete game and the other, he went 8 innings. In his last start, he gave up 2 runs in 8 complete innings!

Jason Schmidt was beaten up pretty bad in his last start, but hopefully that was a fluke judging from his earlier starts this year. His 3 previous starts saw him only give up 1 earned run and the start before that he was part of a shutout. Earlier this year he pitched a complete game shuout, so he has the ability to pitch the whole game where we wont have to worry about a bullpen.

2. Minnesota under 8 runs -108 3 units

This one will be easy!! You cant get much hotter than Santana has been lately! He is 7-4 for the season with an era of 2.87. He has always been matched up against other staff aces so he has quite a few no decisions. But important to note is that the team is 11-4 in his starts! In his last 3 starts, the team is 3-0 and he has an era of 1.35. In Santana's last 4 starts he has given up 1 earned run in each of those games. In every start but 1 this year he has pitched at least 7 innings. Strangely enough, in that one start, he only pitched 5 innings, but left with only 1 run given up! He has not given up more than 1 walk in each of his last 10 starts and didnt walk anyone in 4 of those. After an EXTREMELY slow first month of the season, he has been one of the hottest pitchers in baseball leading his team to victory in 9 out of 10 starts. His only start to lose in that period saw him give up only 2 runs in a shutout loss to Detroit 2-0.

4. St Louis wayyyyyy under 8 runs 2 units
This is a solid pick that should be a 3 unit play, but I am stick to the 2 unit play. Detroit has Verlander on the hill. He is a very steady 8-4 for the year with an oustanding era of 3.21. That is an AMERICAN LEAGUE pitcher with a low era! Detroit is actually 10-4 in his games that he has started. He has 2 shutouts already this season and three starts where he has only given up 1 run.

St Louis's ACE Carpenter is on the mound as well. That should be all that needs to be said, just in case here is some data to convince you. Carpenter is 6-3 for the season with an era of 2.46. But in his last 2 starts he has looked quite impressive by only giving up 1 earned run in one game and zero earned runs in the other game.

The under is 10-1 in Verlander's last 11 night starts.

5. New York Mets -110 3 units with Glavine conditional

I am shocked at the line in this game! I was thinking before I saw the line that it would be the Mets -160 or so. So this is a pleasant overlay here! Tom Glavine is on the hill for the Mets and he is the Major League leader in wins (or at least tied with Kenny Rogers) with 10 wins and only 2 losses. The Mets are 13-2 with him on the hill. His era for the season is 3.48. The Mets have only won 10 straight games when Glavine has started. Mets are also looking for their 9th straight road win!

No real need for a writeup here! Jose Contreras is on the mound for Chicago and he riding a 15 game regular season winning streak. This season he is 7-0 with a 2.96 era! And the White Sox are rolling right now! They have won 7 games in a row and 14 out of their last 18 games!

I would like to say that Andy Pettitte is on the mound for Houston, but it not the Andy Pettitte that we all know. He is 6-7 for the year with 5.44 era.
