MLB Play for friday:

Would love to take the twins today but i dont care for the home team R/L and the price on Johan is extremely high, so ill have to pass.. Ill instead turn to the rockies today, who took 2 of 3 from the (then) redhot A's... Ill give the slight nod to Francis in the pitching matchup.. A key stat to look at in this one, Francis 3-0 (1.89 era) in his last 3 starts at coors field.. thats outstanding.. it will be difficult to hold the ranger bats down, where they light it up (on the road), so ill hope the rockies can get to Koronka, who won his last outing but pretty much stunk it up in the 3 starts prior to that..

Colorado (-1.18) $590 to win $500

this is a big play for me..

If I'm having, or am on the verge having--like tonight--a bad night, I sometimes look at your post and think how nice it is to just have one bet.

The problem, as I think you've encountered in the past, is that you're going to have losing weeks, when you go 7-13 or so (or worse!). Who among us can be so patient? I can't, and I think that's ultimately why you gave up the "goose that laid the golden egg."

People say money management is the key to gambling. I say it's patience.

I'm not criticizing--just the opposite. I actually love how honest you are about your gambling activities--they really ring true.

Good luck, and I hope you continue to post picks and keep us up to date on what you're doing.

By the way, you were talking about hitting 50% dog winners. Check out Goodcall's posts. He's been very successful. I know it's a small sample, but his picks (based purely on a system) seem to be pretty "sharp" or "live" or whatever you want to call them.

Only time will tell though (there's that damned "patience" thing again!).

ultimately i think people have to do what works best for them...... i doubt very many have tried as many different kinds of ways to bet, as i have, over the past 20 years..

i agree patience is the key... at least for me.. i absolutely know that i can hit 56-60% against a (-1.10) spread, if im highly selective... around 43 games per month is ideal for me.. this isnt what works for most but it does for me..

i ultimately had to ask myself, are you in this for the "action" or are you in it "to make money".......... ill take the latter..

think about this way of betting as "one at a time"....... thinking about each bet and the amount to be wagered on each play.. kind of gives you a new favorite team to root for daily..

most couldnt handle this for football.... an ideal day for me on saturday is 1-3 games....... its hard to win an early game and stop for the day..... this style is definatley my strong point and im going to pursue it from now on.. ive sort of went full circle and found my calling, exactly where i knew it would be..

ill be out on saturday until the evening games but im going to post my early play now and ill update everything saturday afternoon, before the night game..
