Nobody has talked about it, but I have a question.

In the Ghana vs US game

On the 1st goal, Renya had possession of the ball and was stripped, but the Ghana player clear hit Renya in the side of his knee with his own knee, a play that eventually knocked Renya out of the game.

Is knee to knee contact a foul on the defender?

I'm not moaning, I just thought that it would be and nobody was talking about it, So maybe it's not:icon_conf

Contact is not a foul or issue but consequential, you must play for the ball, thats why if you miss or late getting there its a foul. :103631605

One more thing: You have to be trying to go for the ball, but you can't go after a 50/50 ball with your cleats facing the defender - because if the defender kicks your cleats with a full swing, he'll fracture 43 bones in his foot.

The best defender I ever seen was Ron "Chopper" Harris, the only person who made George Best not want to go over the Halfway line. In this Day and Age, he wouldnt be playing Amateur Football. What about Norman "bite your legs "Hunter

Downloaded:
Nicknamed 'Chopper' for his no-nonsense tacking style. Hero to the hordes in blue, Chopper was seen as a brutal villain by supporters of other teams for his enthusiastic man-marking and cynical but effective tackling.

What Hunter was, however, was brave and tough. He never shirked a tackle to any extent and as such made him a brutal player for opposition forwards to deal with.

In the same way as no-contact COULD very well be a foul. You can't imagine the number of times people would scream "BUT HE DIDN"T TOUCH HIM!!!!!" on a foul play, when the rules define intention as being enough for a free kick.

50/50 ball. No foul.

is it a 50/50 ball when a man has possession? It seems I've seen scores of fouls called on the follow through or after contact with the ball.

Of course I've seen what appears to be typical tackles called a foul, or sometimes a yellow and on one occasion a red. I can't pretend to understand the officiating.

Generally as long as you make a play on the ball, follow-through contact is OK unless it's malicious/vicious or you come in with cleats up, etc. As long as you make a play on the ball before the man it's usually not a foul.

Don't really remember the play in question but that's a safe rule of thumb.
