The Red Sox sure look primed for another WS run, and decide to hire Roger Clemens to make sure they get their, as Houston goes into the tank in august, Clemens boasts 'he is pleased to come home' and that he "wanted it to be Boston all along'.
Bill Buckner is on hnd to throw out the first ball as Shea Stadium chants 'Thank You Bill' , 'Thank You Bill'...
Buckner hobbles out to the mound and falls off as he tosses out the first pitch to HOF and 1986 hero Gary Carter who informs everyone he could still play....Ray Knight is on hand and almost starts a fist-fight with Carter, reminding everyone he scored the winning run in game 6!
A Flushing (appropriately named) cheer erupts for none other than Doc Gooden who is dressed in 'jumpsuit orange' and is accompanied by Tampa sherrifs deputy's.... Gooden was granted permission to attend ,fresh out of prison but still confined to house arrest.... along side Doc is Darryl Strawberry, who boasts 'I could start right now' and Ray Knight just glares at him.
Behind Knight is Keith Hernandez who is still bitter and scoffs 'we could have won 3-4 WS rings had you too stayed clean' ....Gooden looks nervous and very frail and agrees with Hernadez afterall he is on parole and mentions that he was great in his role on Seinfeld.
