i love the marlins in this one.
Johnson throws a heavy ball and his 6-7 frame makes it real hard on the batters to pick up the ball out of his hand. he can dominate any lineup if he keeps the walks down. johnson is giving up 14 less htis than innings pitched and has over a K per HA thru 16 games and 9 starts.
Shields has been very good and has a great changeup but he doesnt posses another pitch that a scout would rate as better than a B-. the marlins are playing great baseball and their leader, miguel cabrera, has 2 or more hits in 8 of his last 14 games which means he is heating back up.
i will write more on this one later, i do like it. but havent slept in a few days and im a bit tired looking at the keyboard right now

Both of these teams are playing very very well and both have demonstrated very consistent pitching for the past couple of weeks.
Rays have quite a bit more punch in lineup, but I concur with MOFOME about the SP today.
That being said, I see this one as a 2-2 or 3-2 game going into the 7th, so no clear fave to me.
We're on Rays +135

i am on florida too but i dont feel so good about it.
florida coming off a double header in new york. after 2 games they travelled to florida...and now they pay again tonite.... i hope they are not tired....
still i am on florida coz they are on fire and johnson has been great. shields won 4 in a row...lucky...but florida stops him today.

I thought about the marlins having played two yesterday as well but we have to keep in mind that this is a Very young team and could be very enrgized after beating the yanks IN NY. thats HUGE for a team with a roster that currently sits at about 11 million. I expect a confident team to take the field tonight and one that believes it is the better side.
as far as shields and his 4 in a row i dont think its luck. I have watched him pitch and it my belief that a good change is the most effective secondary pitch in the game and Shields has a great one. in jamies worst performance of the year, in baltimore, he really did not pitch poorly at all, the os had only a couple real solid hits in that game.
as far as the lineups, florida has a few more runs than TB on the year and Gomes will be limitted to pinch hitting duties this week with his shoulder still bothering him. uggla may play tonight but with or without him i like the way the marlins are coming into this game and i look for them to post a victory.
